7 Favorite Face Masks & Giveaway

Affiliate Links / Product Sample: A sample of DermaE’s Purifying Mask was provided to me. I was not obligated to include it, however.

If you’ve gathered anything from reading this blog, it’s probably an understanding that skincare is important to me… and that I love to try new things. It’s probably why when I decided to write about my favorite face masks, pulling out 1 or 2 products just wasn’t working for me. It’s hard to narrow down your favorites when your skin is challenging and likes to break out, be dry, and freak out at random moments. These days, my goal with any facial treatment is to make sure my skin is hydrated, but balancing that with acne prone skin can be a struggle.

One of my tricks for preventing any potential issue is double masking. What this means is using one mask in your most troubled areas (like the t-zone, chin, forehead, jaw line, or any combination of these.) Then, use a hydrating or calming mask on the areas that need it most (between the brows, cheeks, around the eyes, or anywhere else you might need some hydration.) More times than not, on the one day a week I dedicate to masking, you’ll find me with two or even sometimes three different masks on my face. High maintenance? Probably. But my skin has never looked better, and I hope to keep it that way.

For Deep Pore Cleaning:
Derma e Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask

When I received this from Derma e, I was a little skeptical. I’ve used a lot of charcoal masks, and most feel drying with little to no results. After using this, I noticed my skin felt smoother and softer (I often have clogged pores in my t-zone that feel rough and bumpy) for many days after using it. The exfoliation isn’t too harsh to use 1x a week, however because I do suffer from dryness, I tend only to use this in my t-zone and apply my moisture mask everywhere else.

How to Wear a Moto Jacket

If you asked me what the best thing I bought (clothing wise, anyway) in 2015 was, I would more than likely point to this leather moto jacket from BLANKNYC. I picked it up during the Nordstrom Semi-Annual sale in the summer and wear it at least once a week. The nice thing about Seattle weather is that we have fairly mild winters, and this year hasn’t been much different. That means that pieces I purchase for fall often get worn in every season but summer, and figuring out how to wear a moto jacket year round is something I’ve quickly mastered.

When Subscription Boxes Go Rogue // Tips for Protecting Yourself From Online Shopping Fraud

Today I had an entirely different post planned. I was going to share with you a reveal and review of Relish Clothing Box, a personal styling box (similar to Stitch Fix) that I ordered back in December and just received. (Yes, the long wait was the first sign of trouble.) And while I did receive my box, there are a lot of other women out there who are currently in limbo because two nights ago Relish Clothing announced they were dismantling… on their now defunct Facebook Group.

This isn’t a post to gossip about what may have happened to the business. To be frank, I don’t really care. The point of this post is to warn you that not everything may be as it seems. Up until very recently, Relish was still sending out boxes to fellow bloggers for free to review and provide giveaways to the readers. I was not one of those bloggers, I purchased the box myself during a holiday promotion with the intent of sharing my honest experience in comparison to Stitch Fix, just like I did with my Wantable Style Edit in January.

In light of what has happened, I want to share some tips for how I keep myself protected when I shop with new businesses online, and what to look out for when a to-good-to-be-true offer comes along. You know I’ve been fooled once with a fake Naked Palette on LivingSocial (but luckily received my money back), and I don’t want anyone to be fooled or taken advantage of by a subscription service or another form of online shopping fraud.

Black & White

I hope you and your partner (whether that be your dog or a human, pets totally count too!) had a wonderful Valentine’s Day weekend. We spent a romantic night out on the town… and by “out on the town” I mean driving from grocery store to grocery store trying to find our favorite Beecher’s Mac & Cheese & hard root beer, because adulting. We also binged on some throwback movies. If you can believe it, Dave has never seen 10 Things I Hate About You, so obviously we had to remedy that right quick.

5 Tips to Prevent Dry Lips & Skin

Sponsored Post: Today I’m partnering with Vaseline Lip Therapy to share some tips and tricks to prevent dry lips and skin this winter. All opinions about the products are my own. :)

Winter is tough on my lips and skin. When the weather starts cooling down, it means that I need to be sure to have an arsenal of lip balms packed in every bag and available in my desk drawer at work and at home. While I technically have dry lips and skin year-round, it’s especially unbearable at this time of year.

That’s just one of many reasons why I was so excited to find out that Target now carries the newly launched Vaseline Lip Therapy Tins. These were formally only available in the UK, but you can now happily add them to your cart on your next (inevitable) Target run. What I love is the simple ingredients and how these truly lock in hydration. I keep one on my desk at home, at work, and on my nightstand to be sure to keep my lips protected all night long. I thought I would also share a few tips I’ve picked up over the years to keep my lips from being terribly chapped in the winter months and to treat other dry skin issues.
