Stitch Fix August 2016

Disclosure: This Stitch Fix August 2016 post contains affiliate links. All opinions are my own, and I purchase this subscription myself.

A box from Stitch Fix is always a happy sight, though I have to admit I was a little shocked when I got the shipping notification. How could July already be over?! Summer is fading quickly, and while I love the weather and fashion that Fall brings, it seems like Summer is coming to a close quicker than I would like. Don’t get me wrong; I love the crisp breeze and the leaves changing colors on the trees, but there’s something to be said for the warm days and cool nights of summer too.

But, back to Stitch Fix. If you’re a Stitch Fix Newbie, Stitch Fix is a clothing subscription service that you schedule when you want to. For a $20 styling fee (that you can use towards anything in your “Fix”) you’ll receive a box of handpicked clothing, shoes, accessories, or handbags. Pin to your Pinterest board, leave a note for your stylist of what you’re looking for and fill out your style profile to get the best possible results. It sometimes takes a few tries for your stylist to get your preferences and fit, but when they do, you will love it.

Stitch Fix August 2016

This month I asked my stylist for fall staples; a denim shirt and floral bomber have been on my list, but I just haven’t found the right styles yet. Unfortunately, my stylist let me know they couldn’t fulfill my requests, but she still sent me a box full of cute items that I couldn’t wait to try on! Ultimately I still haven’t 100% decided what I’m keeping, so let me know in the comments down below which piece(s) you like the best!

I honestly cannot believe that July has come to an end. We had some big things happen in July. The condo closed, so we’re officially no longer home owners. Dave also celebrated a birthday the day after, so it was a month to celebrate and remember. We now are on the house hunt (though not in a big hurry, since who really wants to move again?!)

I thought it would be fun to share my new discoveries this month, and I’d love to hear what you’ve been loving this summer too!

Pinrose Perfume in Wild Child

Looking for a new everyday perfume? You might want to check out Pinrose like, yesterday. They have a broad range of, and they’ve got the lasting power of a high-end perfume but for much less. (In the $50 range!) What I thought was especially cool is their website has a perfume selector based on mood visuals, like color, photos of landscapes, and more.

To me, Wild Child smells like the perfect summer day. It’s floral with notes of gardenia, Tiare  flower, vanilla bean, and a hint of amber. It’s the perfect daytime scent for me, and I’ve been wearing it a lot this month.

5 Ways to Dress Down a Dress

I’m pretty sure that no one would ever call me the queen of fancy dressing. Let’s make something clear; Seattle is an incredibly casual city. I know of only one restaurant in the city that has any sort of dress code (sportcoat required) and during the peak business hours, the downtown core is bustling with people in mostly business casual attire. It’s what I’m used to, and while I appreciate dressing up, it’s just not as typical.

The summer hair struggle is real: how do you keep your hair out of your face but still look cute?! Luckily, there are so many super easy things you can do with your hair to both keep you cool and still looking good. Today, I want to share three lazy hairstyles that are both easy to accomplish and will keep you cool this summer. (And if you live in a really hot area, I’ll have some tips listed to make them even more friendly for the heat!) Preview the hairstyles below, then watch the video to see how I got the look!

Half Top Knot Hairstyle

Lazy Hairstyles: Half Top Knot with Chloe + Isabel Bun Cuff // Hello Rigby Seattle Hair Blog

This hairstyle is great for many reasons, but mostly because it’s incredibly easy yet looks like you spent a lot longer doing your hair. To accomplish this, start by adding some volume to the roots by spraying some of the Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Spray. Then, just brush out the top layer of your hair, twist, pin, and add a braid cuff from Chloe + Isabel x Jen Atkin to take this look to the next level! My friend Melanie was kind enough to send me this piece from her Chloe + Isabel shop. If you haven’t shopped this collection yet, you really should. From barrettes to hair pins, there’s something for every style. As an added bonus, Melanie just let me know that there’s a big sale going right now, but hurry because it ends on Sunday! Be sure to follow her Facebook page for all the deets, including sale announcements and giveaways. Plus, even if you don’t end up using this as hair jewelry, you can always use the cuff as a bracelet. Multi-purpose and incredibly chic? Winning!

“No Makeup” Makeup Transformation with essence cosmetics

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #essenceEssentials #essenceAtTarget #CollectiveBias

Can you believe July is almost coming to a close?! Every time I go to Target recently, it’s becoming painfully obvious that the back to school section is growing, and the summer section is going by the wayside. Womp, womp. Summer has just gone by way too quickly this year!

With that said, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy a day by the pool, which is why I thought a “no makeup” makeup look would be perfect for the end of summer and into the back to school season. But honestly, who spends all day and night at the pool? Not me! Which is why I wanted to show you how to take that same daytime no makeup look into an evening out with your girlfriends, or maybe a date night with someone special. Best of all, each of these essence cosmetic products in this tutorial are in the $5 (or less!) price range, and you can find them at your local Target.
