My Night Time Routine with Olay

You know what my favorite thing to do after a long, busy day is? Taking off my makeup! There’s something so refreshing about taking a load off, lathering up, and getting every last but if makeup off my skin. It’s funny how much one simple part of my night time routine can put me in a different, more relaxed mindset!

My Night Time Routine with Olay

When it comes to unwinding after a long day, I don’t always maintain the exact same schedule, but I do try to stick to a general routine. It helps me feel like I’m more in control of my schedule, and especially during stressful times, this gives me the structure and normalcy that I crave. For me, it means sticking to the basics and planning for the next day ahead. I thought it would be fun to share what my average nightly routine looks like with you today!

What to Pack for a Spring Holiday

Pretty sure that Memorial Day Weekend snuck up on me. How it already the end of May?! For me, it traditionally marks the end of spring and the start of summer here in the Pacific Northwest. And as soon as the temperatures bumped up a few notches here, the first thing I wanted to do was go shopping for all the summer things! Give me all the cute hats, swimsuits, cover-ups, and sunglasses. Add a dash of sunscreen, a cute beach bag, and a good book to read, and I’m set.

Fortunately, Fred Meyer has all the essentials that I was looking for. They’re kind of my go-to place for anything; they’ve got groceries, clothing, housewares… pretty much everything you need to keep your life running smoothly. It’s kind of perfect to have a one-stop shop, especially when you’ve got a bit holiday weekend coming up and you kind of forgot about it. ;)

With that said, today I’ll be sharing some of my essentials that I found while shopping with a holiday trip in mind! But really, these would be perfect whether you’re planning a staycation or are flying 1,000 miles away!

Short Hair, Don’t Care

I’ve had long hair for as long as I can remember. There have really only been two times in my life when I opted to cut it; once when I was feeling adventurous in middle school, and another time in college after I had ruined my hair color with boxed dye. There was no saving it, so I just kept having my hair cut until it was all gone.

I’ve had some traumatic hair experiences too. Like the boxed dye nightmare I mentioned, I was scared to color my hair for awhile after that. Who knew if you had a red base, going darker could be so challenging?! I sure didn’t! Or that Sun In really isn’t such a great idea (seriously, all middle school girls need to be warned!). Or that time I had my hair done for prom and it turned out awful and took 2 hours longer than anticipated, meaning I missed group photos with my friends. Not traumatic at all. ;)

Haircut at Gene Juarez Salon Review // Hello Rigby Seattle Beauty BlogDisclosure: Thanks to Gene Juarez for providing a complimentary service in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own!

What wasn’t traumatic was cutting my hair short a couple weeks back at Gene Juarez. I honestly didn’t plan out what I wanted much. A few hours prior, when Googling “round face haircuts” and “heart-shaped face haircuts” I found a couple of cute looks on Google Image Search, sent them to Dave, and decided to show my hair stylist and see what she thought. If I had thought about it too much, I probably would have chickened out.

The One Thing that Transformed My Skin This Spring

It’s no secret that I’ve struggled with dry skin. Some people get patches on their hands or face during winter that clear when the weather gets warmer, and some people, like me, suffer off and on all year long with itchy, tight, dry skin on their face and other places on their body. Not only do I suffer from dry skin, but I have sensitive skin and am prone to patches of eczema. The struggle is real.

How to Combat Dry Skin

I sound like a real winner, don’t I?! ;) While it may seem like my skin looks bad, it usually doesn’t. For me, my dry skin is more of a sensation; I often feel itchiness and notice flakiness when scratched that is enough to drive anyone a little bit crazy. All this to say, this spring I finally found a product that transformed my dry skin, and I can’t wait to share more about the transformation I’ve seen over the past three months of using the Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer!

We Bought a House!

Happy Tuesday! I’m so excited to share the news that we finally bought a house! This is a long time coming, and we are so thrilled to finally be done with the buying process. (And yes, now the real work begins!)

Seattle 1965 Mid-century Modern Home // Hello Rigby Seattle Home BlogAs much as I initially enjoyed house shopping, the Seattle Real Estate Market is not for the faint of heart. We had our hearts broken over the first house that we fell in love with, lost out on a house that was truly for the best, and walked away from one without making an offer that needed a whole lot of help and felt like a money pit. Third times the charm as we got the third house we made an offer on, and we couldn’t be happier!

It’s a 1965 Mid-century Modern home. It was owned by the same family since it was built and lovingly cared for all those years. With that said, we have a lot of renovation work to do to both finish the house (we have almost 1,000 square feet of unfinished basement!) and to modernize parts of it that we aren’t so crazy about. Overall, however, we will be renovating it to its 60s glory and maintaining as much of the aesthetic of that era as possible.

With all that said, my life is going to be changing a bit. My weekends and evenings may have more house projects in them than they did previously. Is that going to affect my blog? I’m not sure yet.

That’s where I need your help – are you interested in seeing home content? Are house projects of interest to you? Would you prefer room tours or projects? I’d love to share, but only if it proves interesting or useful to you. After all, you’ve kept me coming back to this space and motivated to keep on keeping on, and I want to be sure I’m giving you what you want!

I’ve inserted an anonymous poll below, and I’d love your honest feedback.

(If you can’t see the poll, you can also take it here!)

Thanks for all of your support and bearing with my wacko blogging schedule over the past year or so while we sold our condo and were in search of our first house! You guys are the best. 💗
