What I Wish I Knew About Skincare in my Early 20s

Skincare is one of those things that I didn’t take seriously until I saw early signs of aging on my skin. In my teens, I was so focused on battling breakouts that caring for my skin’s future wasn’t my priority. Instead, I was busy throwing anything and everything that promised to stop breakouts at my face, drying it out beyond belief and setting the stage for fine lines and wrinkles.

In my early 20s, my skin changed and fighting breakouts were no longer a priority. My skin cleared quite a lot, and by my mid-20s, I saw the first signs of aging. What I Wore to Furniture Shop

I won’t lie, I almost always have the house on the brain these days. There’s something about home ownership that turns you (at least at first) into a walking, talking house encyclopedia. Drainage, refinishing, voltage and a myriad of other terms have been more frequently used in my vocabulary as of late. And as one of my friends told me, I have house brain, so any typos or mistakes I make on social media or the blog are forgiven. With that said, I still haven’t lost my love for fashion and sharing my latest #OOTD though!

Now that summer is officially here, and temperatures are on the rise, it’s all about staying cool! This past weekend hit 95 degrees, and I basically felt like I was melting. With a handful of hot days a year here, I always feel poorly equipped (fashion and life wise!) to deal with the heat. My friend Lisa had her bridal shower on Saturday, so finding something appropriate for the occasion, summer-ready, and comfortable for a shopping adventure afterward were key.

A Feminine Midcentury Office Reveal

If I’m honest, I was most excited to move into our house so I could finally have my own office space. Dave and I are both busy with our hobbies (and of course, each requires quite a bit of space!) which means that having our offices eliminated was the worst part of our previous temporary digs. It also was the most difficult feature to find in a house. Having dedicated office space is somewhat unusual in the Seattle market, let alone two. When we found our home, we were thrilled that not only was there a dedicated office, there were also plenty of rooms that could be easily converted into an office for me.

Obviously having a house itself is pretty cool, but this introvert likes her personal space. With blogging and vlogging as a huge part of my life, it comes with a unique set of challenges, and a significant amount of stuff.

A Feminine Midcentury Office Reveal

I spent the weekend after we moved in attempting to organize my office. What I learned is that I have a ridiculous amount of stuff, and storing it is not the easiest thing in the world. I also learned that I was unprepared to have such a large space! My decor from my previous office was lacking for an entire room, so I set off to find a few things to give the room some character. Fortunately, my friends at Fred Meyer were willing to be a part of our home journey, and I was able to find some amazing home pieces at my local store to customize my space.

Today I thought I’d share what I’ve been working on in my office – including how I shopped for each item and the process of putting some of the final touches on my office. Stitch Fix June 2017

I know it’s been a little quiet around here, but if you caught my last post on home ownership, then you might have figured out that this past month has been a little bit overwhelming. So much so that I think I’ve now come down with a summer cold because of it. Stress doesn’t do a body good, and if there’s anything I’m not the best at handling, it’s too many things at once. Oops.

Lessons in Home Ownership (So Far)

Well, we’re about one month into home ownership, and already the word to describe it is “adventure.” We knew when buying a home that was built in 1965 we would probably discover quirks and unexpected things, and so far, that has definitely been true. I thought I’d give a little life update today about what’s been going on and why I’ve been a little MIA on the blog this week.

Lessons in Home Ownership (So Far)

And before I get into exactly what’s going on, let me say this: I am beyond grateful that we 1. found a home we love, and 2. are able to financially afford it and be able to make all of it work regardless of what happens. I can’t imagine what it would be like if we were strapped for cash, and that’s why I think it’s really important to have a long hard look at your finances before you decide to move forward with buying a house, no matter where you are at in the process. It sucks to give up on a dream of a magical house that’s outside of your budget, but at the same time, I’m glad we ended up buying in a slightly lower price point than we initially thought. It’s made all of what I’m going to tell you about that much less stressful. ;)
