Back to School Memories from a Former College Student

It’s been a few years since I went back to school, but I can remember my most traumatic one like it was yesterday. I had applied to go to Washington State University almost as an after thought. At the time, j was wushu-washy whether I actually wanted to live in the middle of nowhere for four years of college, but figured it was worth it to apply to another in-state school, just in case.

If you’re not from the area, Pullman is a small college town east of the mountains. It’s about an hour and a half from civilization (a bigger city, Spokane) and about 10 minutes from the Washington-Idaho border. So yeah, middle of nowhere! And about this time, too many years ago than I’d wish to share, I was off to that mysterious place for freshmen orientation. What can I say, I’m a bit reminiscent of that time in my life and couldn’t wait to share a fun outfit that reminds me of heading back to school with Boohoo, one of my favorite affordable places to shop.

Moving Tips and Tricks to Keep Your Pup Happy

I made a huge mistake the first time we moved. I didn’t acclimate my dog to our new place properly and ended up rushing Rigby to the vet with some digestive issues if you get what I’m saying. Just like humans, dogs can get stressed and have health consequences too. And if you’re like me and hadn’t considered the impact of moving with dogs, then I’m hoping I can help you keep both you and your pup stress-free.

Moving with Dogs Tips and Tricks

When we moved this time around, I had quite a few questions from friends and family on how Rigby was handling things. Unlike last time, I was proud to announce that he seemed to be doing just fine! No emergency vet visits occurred, and Rigby’s tummy troubles seemed to be nowhere to be found. (And if you’ve taken any 4 am bathroom trips for a fussy dog like I have, then you know this is a real blessing. Seriously.) Because of what I experienced on our first move, I wanted to share what I’ve learned about moving with a sensitive pup in the hopes that you and your pup are feeling good about a move or a life change! Le Diner en Blanc Seattle

Have you heard of Le Diner en Blanc, the infamous all white party that pops up in a mysterious location in your city for just one night? I’d heard about it when Nancy of Spiffykerms attended a Le Diner En Blanc inspired dinner a few years back and had been curious ever since. From photos, it looked to be such a glamorous affair and how fun to eat with friends and strangers in one of your city’s most beautiful outdoor spaces, right?

Well, kind of. Look, you guys know I’m not going to lie and say it was perfect if it wasn’t. And it wasn’t. So instead, I’m going to tell you about the good (which there was lots of!), the bad, and the ugly, and what I wished I had known about Diner en Blanc as a first timer. You know, the things they don’t really tell you in the initial literature about the event.

Le Diner en Blanc: What to Know About this Mysterious Event Before You Go

Before I jump into the good and bad of the event, I thought I’d cover exactly what Le Diner en Blanc is. Dîner en Blanc is a worldwide event, spanning six continents, in which people flash-gather in a public space and set up a temporary, chic dining area. Guests come dressed in white to enjoy food, wine, and conversation with 1,000 or more of their “closest” friends. Other cities include Paris, Vancouver, B.C., New York City, Montreal, and many more. The first Diner en Blanc was held in Paris near the Eifel Tower over 30 years ago, and has since grown to over 10,000 participants and unique events around the world.

Busy Girl Life Hacks with Fred Meyer

I’ve come to realize that everyone is busy. Some of us are juggling full-time work and a side hustle. Others are juggling a demanding career and family time. And some of us enjoy a combination of a little busyness from many things, be it hobbies, fitness, spending time with friends and family, volunteering your time, or any other multitude of activities.

The thing is though; I don’t want to give up busyness. I, like many of you, enjoy the challenge that being busy and utilizing my time can bring. What I focus on instead, however, is how to hack the things that don’t bring me joy. For me, cooking, grocery shopping, and gardening end up high on that list. While I love and appreciate each of those things, I would rather work on my blog, catch up with friends, or work on house projects instead. It’s all about balance and finding out where you most enjoy spending your time.
