How to Score the Best Vintage Clothing for Fall

I can’t believe how fast September flew by. It doesn’t help that the month was quite the whirlwind; from my friend Lisa tying the knot, to visiting NYC for Fashion Week, to Bellevue Fashion Week, and ending the month off with a cold. Go figure. No crazy month would be complete without getting sick at least once. Or twice if you count food poisoning in NYC. Oy.

Regardless, I made the best of what time I did have between all the crazy, and did a lot of fall shopping, bought some new old furniture, and made some minor progress on getting more settled here in our new home. And when I say minor, I mean minor. There are still piles all over the house that need to be organized, however, most of the boxes have been emptied so that’s good!

How to Shop for the Best Vintage Clothing

With fall here now, I’ve been unpacking some of my favorite pieces out of their storage bins and I find that over and over again the ones that I keep around have something major in common: they’re old. Old as in vintage. My favorite fall pieces often come from my favorite eras, the 60s and 70s. I don’t know what it is about that time, maybe it’s the polyester, the fun colors, or the funky patterns. But whatever it is, I love it, and a lot of you seem to also. I thought I’d share a few tricks to finding the best vintage pieces that you’ll also want to keep around year after year.

Stitch Fix October 2017 | Stitch Fix Review

As summer comes to a close, I’m reminded how much I appreciate the change in seasons. The end of the season brought wildfires to Seattle, where ash fell from the sky almost like tiny snowflakes. That was the case when I was shooting these photos, and despite the sunny skies, the smell of fire was alarming.

There’s not much I’m looking forward to than a little rain. It means that summer will be leaving us, but it says that fall is indeed here – which truly is my favorite season. I love the leaves changing colors, the crisp smell in the air, pumpkin everything, Halloween, and the coming holiday season. But, before the rain hits and the chill is entirely in the air, I have one last Stitch Fix review to celebrate that awkward transitional time where sleeves are still shorter, but a jacket might be layered on top. ;)

Speaking of awkward transitions, you may know that I have missed a couple of Stitch Fixes over the past few months, and my posts have become more and more delayed. To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure how much longer I will be making them. While I think Stitch Fix is a fun and unique way to shop and try new things, it’s no secret that this girl loves shopping too.

If you’re new to Stitch Fix, I’ll break it down real quick. For a $20 styling fee, receive a box on your doorstep containing five items – anything from clothing to jewelry to handbags to shoes based on your style profile and Pinterest style board. Send back what you don’t like, keep what you do, and your $20 styling fee will be deducted from the total. Keep all five items and receive an additional 25% off. If you use my link to sign up, you’ll receive $25 off your first Fix!

Stitch Fix also serves male clients too! Have a significant other or male relative in need of some shopping assistance? Send them over to Stitch Fix Men! It works the same way, and it’s perfect for the man in your life because if we are being honest, most men hate shopping!

5 Must-Have Fall Wardrobe Essentials

How has fall already snuck up on me? It seems like the weather went from hot and sweaty to chilly in no time, and while fall fashion is most definitely more of my forte, it’s a little sad to begin packing up some of my summer favorites in favor of my fall wardrobe essentials. I will admit that Dave and I have already argued about whether or not we should turn the heat on already. (Yes, these are the things we “argue” about. Homeownership problems at their finest.)

On one of those transitional days in late August, I met my friend Lisa of Story of My Dress at a nearby coffee shop to take a break from the work grind and shoot some photos. We were both thrilled to work with The Frye Company to share their store grand opening earlier this month. (They’re in University Village near the Anthropologie store, if you haven’t checked it out yet! It’s gorgeous.) And, we were both thrilled to be gifted a pair of boots to keep! I chose the Frye Tate Chelsea Boot, with a perfect, classic style in a gorgeous Bordeaux color.

Fashion Runway Makeup with BeYu Cosmetics

Well, fall is officially here, and that means a new makeup routine for me! This year I had the privilege of attending New York Fashion Week and one of the things that I loved about attending the runway shows, besides the clothing, of course, was the makeup! I saw so many inspirational makeup looks, and one that I couldn’t get enough of was all of the shimmery autumn hues on eyes, lips, and cheeks.

Fashion Runway Makeup with BeYu Cosmetics

Sparkling reds and violets, metallic lips, and lots of neutrals were seen coming down the runways, and I couldn’t wait to try them out myself! I’m so excited to be partnering with BeYu Cosmetics (available locally at Bartell Drugs!) today because they have a plethora of color options, including warm tones for fall! Plus, their products are safe for sensitive skin, and never tested on animals. You may also recall I featured them last October in a fall makeup post, so why not another?! This time I’m trying out several new products, and reworking my makeup look with some of my old favorites!

Remember Me, the Girl Who Used to Blog?

Oh hi, remember me? I’m the girl who used to blog here regularly. Somehow, the end of summer ended up being a whirlwind, and while I’ve kept up on Instagram, my little blog has suffered. To be honest, I was incredibly surprised to look at my calendar and realize it has been over two weeks 27 days (thanks, Jae! ; ) ) since my last post. Oy.

You know, after blogging for 3+ years, life changes. I started this blog as a way to document Rigby growing up. (Hence the name, I sometimes forget that new readers may not remember the old days, my rambling posts, and the puppy photos!) While I don’t have any plans to go anywhere, I guess I just needed a break to live life a bit.

Today I thought I’d catch you up on what’s been going on behind the scenes, and what I’ve been working on. I may not have been actively posting on the blog, but I’ve kept up on Instagram, and many of the photos I’ve shared there will be future posts.
