Getting Over Writer’s Block

Do you ever have those times in life where you’re feeling like you have plenty of ideas, but when you try to put the proverbial pen to paper nothing comes out? After blogging for 3 almost 4 years now, I feel like I’ve hit my first big case of writer’s block, and the struggle to get through it and back to writing daily has been real.

Why does writer’s block hit when it seems like everything should flow easily? We’ve had plenty of things change in our lives this year (well, our living situation mostly. Hello, home ownership!) that should give me plenty of blog fodder. I have folders on my computer brimming with photos to share. But when I sit down to write, it’s like all the creative ideas that came to me in the shower vanish and I’m left struggling with the words that used to come so easily to me.

Overcoming Writer’s Block

So, here’s me sitting down, putting keys to my WordPress Editor with the hope of me working through this small blip of a lack of creativity in my blogging career. While writer’s block may not be the end of the world, it certainly does feel like a struggle, and one that I need to work my way through.

The Fall Fashion Uniforms I Swear By

It’s my favorite time of year: shopping season! Does anyone else look forward to fall fashion just so they can refresh their wardrobe? I guess I’m a through and through fall girl considering I can’t get enough, from updating my everyday basics to a new pair of ankle booties and beyond.

This is my favorite time of year to refresh my daily basics, and once again reignite my biggest hack of the cold weather months: fall fashion uniforms. I’m sure you’ve heard that people who value productivity opt to hack their wardrobe so they make fewer decisions every day. (The late Steve Jobs of Apple was a big proponent of this, with his daily wardrobe of a black turtleneck, jeans, and sneakers.) Over the years I’ve established a similar pattern. It’s not quite so cut and dry, but as a non-morning person, having a uniform of sorts makes it helpful for me to spend less time standing in front of my closet, hoping for the perfect outfit to appear and more time in bed.

So, what’s my uniform? A cute sweater, the perfect pair of jeans, and an ankle bootie.

My Own Custom Lipstick?! // My Bespoke Lipstick Experience at Bite Beauty Lip Lab NYC

Is there anyone that wouldn’t want a lipstick, made exactly for them, from the color to the scent to the formula? You could create the perfect nude for your exact skin tone. Or the perfect red. Or even the perfect fall moody lip. Or maybe a combination of all of them? The options are endless, and I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t want to do this. (Okay, maybe people who never wear lipstick, but that’s probably not you since you are reading this. ;)) For those reasons and more, I knew I had to be sure to make an appointment at Bite Beauty Lipstick Lab in SoHo when I was in NYC for Fashion Week last month.

Disclosure: Nothing to disclose here! My bespoke lipstick experience was paid for by me. :)

To be honest, I can’t even remember where exactly I heard about this originally. Maybe it was from a YouTuber, or it could have been one of those auto-playing videos on Facebook. But once I saw it, it stuck in the back of my mind and I knew I wanted to try it for myself someday. That’s exactly why I knew I had to try and get Rebecca and me in for appointments while we were visiting NYC for Fashion Week.

Fall Pamper Routine in 7 Easy Steps

As the chill in the air grows stronger, lately I’ve been feeling more like hiding under the covers instead of getting up and tackling the day ahead. I find that the change of seasons, especially when going from unusually warm weather to colder temperatures, is hard on me. While my body mourns the loss of summer and the warmth that comes with it, I’ve decided that the best way to conquer the fall blues is by treating myself to the full on fall pamper routine.

I wish I had time to do this more often, but on those days when there’s nothing on the calendar (let’s be honest, that’s pretty rare!) and I have the time, I love to treat myself. Some girls might love going to the spa, but I’ve found that it’s more cost-effective and sometimes a bit easier to just pamper yourself right at home. No need to battle traffic to get to your appointment on time, either. Plus, if you splurge on some beautiful body products, you’ll get to use them again and again!

Fall Pamper Routine in 7 Easy Steps

That’s exactly where L’Occitane comes in. I love their rich body products made with Shea Butter that is sourced Sustainable Fair Trade from female-led collectives in Burkina Faso. The Shea Butter Collection is perfect for an at-home pampering session, and I know that since the weather has turned a bit chilly that my skin is desperately in need of a bit more hydration!
So what’s my favorite fall pamper routine? Read on for my step by step guide to relaxation and rejuvenation this season!

The Street Style Way to Mix Prints for Everyday Wear

Ah, New York Fashion Week. What a wild adventure that was. From watching the street style queens peacock their way across streets and down sidewalks to the hustle and bustle inside and outside shows, there’s nothing quite like it. I’d be lying if I said I totally fit in, as my style is less street style and more comfort with a dash of quirk.

The Street Style Way to Mix Prints for Everyday Wear

Going into Fashion Week, I definitely considered buying a bunch of new pieces to try to fit in. Sure, I could blow a bunch of cash to catch someone’s attention or feel like a completely different person, but honestly, that’s just not me. While I love watching and using street style for inspiration, I often tone it down a bit to satisfy my desk to drinks (more likely coffee or one glass or rosé, honestly) lifestyle. And I think that’s the same type of person you are. I’m betting that like me, you work some sort of 9-5 or a variation of it, enjoy hobbies and getting together with friends outside of your office life, and like for your clothes to express your personal style without being too in your face.
