Hello, 2018

Writing.

In the past, it was rarely a struggle for me. Then, 2017 happened and this girl lost her voice. It was still there, buried somewhere in my head wanting to get out, but somehow felt blocked and stifled. I had so many things going outside of blogging this past year that I had to put it in the backseat for my own sanity at times.

In the past, when things would happen to me, whether they were positive or negative, I would immediately want to start writing. But this past year has been tough in a way I didn’t expect. Our new house brought so many emotions: elation, joy, excitement. Then, it brought fear, dread, and for a fleeting moment, even regret.

A Very Midcentury Christmas + Easy Hostess Gift Ideas

It’s our first holiday season in our new {old} house, and while I was excited to decorate for Christmas, it came with a little hesitation. After all, we are still working on furnishing our home, so the idea of finding Christmas decor that would work for a house-in-transition was a bit intimidating.

A Very Mid Century Christmas

Fortunately, I have a lifetime to decide on exactly what decor we do or don’t need, so this year I took it easy on the decor and tried to keep the pressure for finding the “perfect” things low. Call our house decor minimalist or maybe just a touch of festive cheer. Either way, I’m pleased with the small Christmas touches I made throughout the house. And if you’re like me and feeling overwhelmed with the idea of decorating a new-to-you house for Christmas, don’t worry. It will come together!

Gifts for the Holidays for the Beauty Lover

I know I must not be the only last minute holiday shopper out there. Anyone else? Nope? Bueller?

I know I can’t be alone, because today is Free Shipping Day, after all! One of those internet-invented holidays to get you to shop more, no doubt, but nonetheless, today is a great time to knock some gifts off your list. I most definitely took advantage this morning on a secret gift for someone which shall not be named. It’s something I’ve been on the hunt for since it was released 3 months ago, so now I’m just praying to the retail gods that it doesn’t get canceled.

Anyway!

Last year my beauty gift guide was by far my most popular, as well as my personal favorite to create. It offers the perfect gift for nearly everyone, whether it’s your man in need of desperate need of some skincare, for you to treat yo’ self, or for your BFF who loves having the latest beauty palette. So, I’m back with all of my tried and true favorites to share with you, as well as my biggest giveaway do the year with FOUR winners! Woohoo!

Skincare Gifts for the Beauty Lover ($50-75)

Juice Beauty Best of Stem Cellular Anti-Aging Skincare Set, $75 – Have you tried Juice Beauty? No? Then this is the perfect way to! Just pick out one of their gift sets and you’ll be set, whether it’s for you or for someone you love. His & Hers for the Holidays

Well, whether you like it or not, the holidays are in full swing. It seems like just yesterday it was Halloween and I was scrambling around to get our house in the spirit for that holiday. And just like that, I’m doing about the same for Christmas. Whoops. One day I’ll stop being such a procrastinator and have things together. Maybe. Anyone else seem to have this problem?!

To celebrate the holiday season, Dave and I spent most of our Saturday out shopping to fulfill wishes for names we pulled from a giving tree for a local charity. We started this tradition last year, where instead of shopping for each other, we shop for families in need. It’s way more fun to shop for presents for kids anyway, and often we find that if there’s something either of us wants or needs, we usually buy it for ourselves or each other. Plus, we hope it brings some relief to some parents out there, and smiles for their children.

How to Make Your LBD Fresh for the Holidays

Happy December! Anyone else totally not prepared for it to be the last month of the year?! I feel like every month of 2017 just flew right on by and while I look forward to what 2018 will bring, I wouldn’t mind if the holidays came just a teensy bit slower.

But, since I can’t control time, the best I can do is to just go with it. For me, that means it’s time to embrace the impending holidays and start sharing some holiday outfits! Today, I’ve taken a little twist on the little black dress, the little black cape dress, and styled it with a few simple pieces that you probably already have in your closet.
