How to Host the Perfect Galentine’s Brunch for your Gal Pals

Happy Galentine’s Day!

Today is the day to celebrate all of the wonderful women in your life, whether you’re celebrating your mom, your sister, your closest girlfriends, or yourself! I’m always inspired by the strong women in my life: my mom is my rock, and while I don’t have any sisters, she more than made up for it. I also am fortunate to have an amazing tribe of women around me: friends, aunts, cousins, and extended family that inspire me to be strong, courageous, brave, and passionate in whatever it is that I choose to do.

I hope you also have incredible women like them in your life to lift you up. I think it’s important, especially in hard times, to surround yourself with inspiring people. I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs, and I am grateful to be encouraged by these women.

Enough of the sap, and now onto how best to celebrate them! I know I just shared a gift guide to celebrating yourself or the women in your lives, but some of my favorite memories are those created through experiences. A beautiful meal, great conversation, many laughs, and maybe a sweet treat or two are the times I cherish the most. And while presents are special, memories are forever.

I recently hosted a few close friends for brunch. The theme was Galentine’s Day, so I popped over to Target to grab cute pieces for table decor, and whipped up a few special items for us to enjoy over conversation. We finished the meal off with sweet treats, and because we all met through blogging, lots of photos were taken of the day.

Whether you have time to whip up a beautiful brunch this weekend, or you’re just looking for an idea to spend an hour or two with a gal pal, I hope these ideas help you celebrate!

How to Get New York Fashion Week Tickets // The Complete Guide to Attending NYFW for Bloggers

One of my dreams, even before I began blogging, was to attend New York Fashion Week. I’ve always loved following fashion trends, and while I may not be a walking designer encyclopedia, I can’t get enough of watching the latest and greatest come down the runway. The only thing stopping me? How to get New York Fashion Week tickets of course!

If you don’t follow me on Instagram, you may not know that I spent a few days in September in NYC for my first New York Fashion Week. It was thrilling; something I’ve always wanted to do. And ironically, it kind of started as a joke between friends on Instagram DM and ended up being a full-blown whirlwind of a trip.  Honestly, when it came to planning this trip I had no idea where to begin. As you’ll see in this post, it’s a layered effort to make attending NYFW successful if you’re a blogger. From figuring out where to stay to how to actually get New York Fashion Week tickets to shows and events, buckle up. It may be a bumpy ride.

And before I get started, I need to answer the question I get the most: Would I do it again? Probably. Is it a good thing there are six months to a year between fashion weeks? Absolutely.

I think it will give me a chance to forget how much work, blood, sweat, and tears (ok, not really, but almost) went into this. I’m also very grateful to my friend Ana Luiza who has a very helpful post about her experienceand advice for attending NYFW and helped answer some of my first-timer questions in person and via panicked text messages. And of course, I couldn’t have done it without my traveling companion, friend, photographer for the trip (who took the photos of me in this very post!), and fellow fashion blogger, Rebecca of Blogger Not Billionaire.

New Year, New Style with Stitch Fix

When it comes to fashion, experimentation is everything. This year, one of my style resolutions is not to be afraid to try new things. And if you’ve been feeling creatively stifled when it comes to your wardrobe too, then I’m happy to share how Stitch Fix can help us.

Over the years, my style has evolved from very much trendy to vintage to office casual to what it is today, a blend of all three. If I had to describe my style in the three words or less I would call it eclectic and unique. I enjoy blending vintage with modern trends, but in a practical way that can be worn from work to weekend easily.

Recently I was talking to Dave about how my style has evolved. He brought up something that I often forget: when we first met, I was in the biggest fashion rut ever. I was new to my career. I was tired and stressed from my perfectionist tendencies about my work, and let my style take a backseat. I most definitely didn’t have the energy to shop much after work, so I often stuck to my usual blouse and dark wash denim combination. At that time, Stitch Fix didn’t exist, and there wasn’t a great way to get new fashion inspiration sent to me to try in the comfort of my own home.

7 Lazy Girl Hacks to Keep You Healthy & Active This Winter

While I wouldn’t call myself lazy per say, I can’t say that I have the motivation and determination to work out on a consistent schedule. Or eat healthily 100% of the time. This girl loves her cupcakes, and I’m not about to give them up to go Keto. Or join the Whole 30. Or whatever other diet is so hot right now.

Sorry not sorry.

And I highly doubt I’m alone in these feelings. While there might be pressure to try the latest diet fads, for most of us, it’s not only not practical, it’s also not sustainable. For me, it’s all about those little daily hacks that keep me feeling good and healthy. It means indulging in the occasional cupcake, but maybe opting for a salad later. It means going outside more often and working those muscles, even if it’s just a power walk. Little things add up and can make a big difference to your physical appearance and also your mind too.

Spoiler alert: I’m not a fitness or health blogger. This isn’t going to be a post sharing how to get motivated to put two hours in at the gym and commit to a green smoothie a day. This is about the small hacks I make in my normal life to maintain my weight, get in more exercise, and still spend plenty of time watching Netflix in bed. ;)
