5 Things Friday + Lovely Letters

Happy Friday! I’m so excited to have today off to make a super long weekend. Yay! We very rarely get additional days off at my work, so I’m pretty pumped to get a freebie like this, especially when we already have a holiday coming up. Anyways, I thought I’d share 5 things I’ve been digging this week to start off the weekend.

1 / Lovely Letters

Last month I signed up to be part of a pen pal swap called Lovely Letters on Esther & Jacob! I got paired with Katrina, who blogs on a super cute food blog called Table For Two, Please. Here’s what she sent me:

Thrifty Thursday: Happy Pants

These pants may not be the most flattering. Some may even think they’re crazy. But more importantly, I’ve deemed them the Happy Pants, because they’re bright, colorful, and slouchy-comfy-coziness makes me smile.

With styling, sometimes I think people get really hung up over what is the most figure-flattering. I think I get caught in that trap too – but let’s be real, sometimes I want to wear something that feels good, not looks good. Not to say I don’t look good, or that I do; I think this is a fun outfit. I can chase my dog around the park and not worry about breaking an ankle. But it’s not traditionally what one may call chic, fashion-forward, or ground breaking. And that’s okay. Some days this is what I need. Continue reading

Stitch Fix Review – June 2014

Affiliate Links
So, I got a Stitch Fix delivered at the end of last month. I ended up with a $20 credit from Klout, and I figured why not give it another go. I first heard of Stitch Fix through PopSugar Must Have many months ago, and got a free credit to try it. My first fix arrived in November, and while I liked the idea of some of the items, I only kept one. I loved the top I kept, but it shrunk like crazy after washing it once in the cold cycle… so needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect this time around.

Anyways, I took some outfit photos for you. I apologize that the location is pretty lame, but I have yet to get a tripod so yay, you get to look at the ugly corner of our living room with a dog toy that I didn’t spot. Oops. ;)

June Budget

So remember last month when I was a very bad, no good shopaholic? Welp. This shopaholic’s gotta be real this month. It was hard. But I did it!

Let’s get down to business. I set a goal of $150 for June because I went way too crazy at the sight of summer weather and the Nordstrom sale in May. Whoopsies. I am very happy to report that I spent $102.50. Yep, I went WAY under budget, and that doesn’t include the whole $5 I made selling at Plato’s. (Side note, why do I even bother with that place? Seriously, $5 is less than I probably spent in gas to get there. Clearly this is the reason I started the Shop My Closet group.) Continue reading

Shop My Closet

Something I’ve been meaning to do for at least a month now is sell my clothes to some of our local shops that buy/sell gently used clothing (you know, the Plato’s Closet, Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads of the world.) The only problem? I haven’t done it. That’s how this Shop My Closet idea was born.
