How I Power my Day with Cascade Ice

When it comes to the mid-day slump, it can throw a wrench in an otherwise productive day. Come three o’clock, and I often go from energized to feeling like I could use a nap! For someone self-employed, this can be a frustrating occurrence and it is why I like to find pick-me-ups that work.

Fortunately, over the past several months, I’ve been partnering with Cascade Ice Water to try out their brand new caffeinated sparkling water beverage! It comes in four great flavors and is made with just three ingredients: carbonated water, natural organic flavor, and organic caffeine. If you’re like me and can’t get enough sparkling water in your life, you’ll love this drink! It’s not sweetened however, the natural organic flavor adds just the right hint of grapefruit, black raspberry, pomegranate mango, or citrus to the beverage.

Today, I thought I’d share the six activities that Cascade Ice Caffeinated has helped power this summer!

7 Fall Flavors that You Need from Whole Foods

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Whole Foods Market.

With fall’s crisp chill in the air, it’s no wonder I’ve all but completely switched into fall mode. In the kitchen, things are changing too! I’m moving away from the bright flavors of citrus and summer fruits and transitioning to the spicy, creamy, and sweet wonders that make up the flavors of fall. When I think of fall flavors, I think of pumpkin spice, maple, apple, and all of the creamy comfort foods that warm me up.

Whole Foods Market Fall Flavors Products

What can I say, I’m a little basic and couldn’t wait until September 1st hit so I could get my pumpkin spice fix! At this time of year, you can find me walking down every aisle of the store and grabbing anything with “pumpkin spice” in the name. Fortunately, Whole Foods Market gets me and recently released its limited-time seasonal products!

With everything from sweet to savory to sippable, they’ve got something for everyone. (Yes, even the pumpkin spice hater will find something they’ll love!)

Today, I thought I’d highlight my favorite fall-flavored products available right now at your local Whole Foods Market!

We’re Engaged!

Apparently all it takes to get your partner to pop the question is to plan a trip to Disneyland without them.

I kid, I kid.

But in all seriousness, on Friday, September 20th, I had the surprise of my life. (So far, anyway!)

We're Engaged: Disneyland Engagement

Let me back up and explain how this all came to be. My friend Holly, who I met when I got hired at JCPenney when I was 16, and I had planned a trip to Orange County for fun. She’s been dying to hit Disneyland since she hadn’t been since she was a kid, and with the new Star Wars: Galaxy Edge opening, knew it was the perfect time to visit. I’m always down for a visit to the Happiest Place on Earth, so we began planning in July for a mid-September trip.

A Day in the Blooms: Visiting the Best Peony Farm in Washington

It’s become a tradition to go to the flowers come spring and summer. Over the years, my friends and I have visited the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon, the Lavender Festival in Sequim, the Cherry Blossoms at the University of Washington, and more. This year’s pick was a peony farm! Flowers are finicky, so we only had a few weeks to hit the blooms before they were gone.

And like all good travel stories, this one didn’t quite work out as initially planned. Originally, we had planned a day trip to the peninsula to visit a peony farm in Sequim that we had heard about on Instagram. Then, tragedy nearly struck when I discovered it had closed since last year! Thinking it was the only peony farm in the state of Washington, I really panicked. Had we missed our opportunity to frolic amongst the gorgeous blooms?!

Fortunately, a little Googling landed me on Pure Peonies website, where I was excited to see that they are indeed open to the public for a short window each year. Starting in early May to mid-June, Pure Peonies, a Washington peony farm, opens their beautiful garden to the public for admiring as well as taking home fresh cut peonies for yourself.

For everything you need to know about visiting the best peony farm in Washington, just keep reading!

How to Find the Best Maxi Dresses for Short Girls

When it comes to fashion advice, I’ve received a lot of it from so-called style experts. Especially as a petite person (I’m about 5’3″), these experts love to tell me what short people can and cannot pull off. I recently remembered the time I was told maxi dresses for short girls was a style to be avoided. The reasoning? Maxi dresses were made for tall people, and the amount of fabric would swallow my frame.

Oh, okay.

Not only is this type of advice terribly confusing and often ends up contradicting what other “experts” say, but it’s also often pretty laughable. Why should my height dictate whether or not I try to wear a trend, or an entire category of clothing for that matter?

In fact, some of these styles can actually make you look taller, not to mention they make a great wardrobe staple since they can be styled for year-round wear.
