3 Things I’ve Stopped Doing in 2016 & Giveaway

Product Sample: OrganicGirl provided greens to participate in their Green Beauty Challenge. We’ve been buying OrganicGirl Greens for years so I can truly recommend them. :)

I took a different approach this year when it came to setting New Year’s Resolutions. Instead of picking goals and things I would do, I chose to determine things that I was going to stop doing. While I haven’t 100% stopped doing those five things completely, I have learned a lot about myself, how I work best, and the ways in which I am motivated to complete tasks.

3 Things I Have Stopped Doing in 2016 // Hello Rigby Seattle Lifestyle Blog

Now that we’re into the third month of the year, the sun is back out, and it feels like spring is nearly here, it feels like enough time has passed to reflect on those thoughts. While I may not have 100% stuck to my anti-resolutions, I’ve identified three things that I feel like I have been able to stop doing this year.

When Subscription Boxes Go Rogue // Tips for Protecting Yourself From Online Shopping Fraud

Today I had an entirely different post planned. I was going to share with you a reveal and review of Relish Clothing Box, a personal styling box (similar to Stitch Fix) that I ordered back in December and just received. (Yes, the long wait was the first sign of trouble.) And while I did receive my box, there are a lot of other women out there who are currently in limbo because two nights ago Relish Clothing announced they were dismantling… on their now defunct Facebook Group.

This isn’t a post to gossip about what may have happened to the business. To be frank, I don’t really care. The point of this post is to warn you that not everything may be as it seems. Up until very recently, Relish was still sending out boxes to fellow bloggers for free to review and provide giveaways to the readers. I was not one of those bloggers, I purchased the box myself during a holiday promotion with the intent of sharing my honest experience in comparison to Stitch Fix, just like I did with my Wantable Style Edit in January.

In light of what has happened, I want to share some tips for how I keep myself protected when I shop with new businesses online, and what to look out for when a to-good-to-be-true offer comes along. You know I’ve been fooled once with a fake Naked Palette on LivingSocial (but luckily received my money back), and I don’t want anyone to be fooled or taken advantage of by a subscription service or another form of online shopping fraud.

Valentine’s Day DIY Hot Cocoa Bar & Giveaway

Affiliate LinksProduct Sample: Starbucks sent me some products for review, but my coffee/chocolate addiction and thoughts are my own. Just Four Kicks also sent me a copy of their game as a gift.

What do you do when you have leftover Christmas candy, Valentine’s candy, and a bunch of Starbucks Hot Cocoa calling your name? You create a DIY Hot Cocoa Bar, obviously. We have dinner with my side of the family every other Sunday, and I thought it would be fun to have a little hot cocoa over a new-to-me card game called Just Four Kicks. I’d kept seeing pins for these DIY hot cocoa bars, and while I did not create anything nearly as fancy, it probably tasted just as good!

Valentine's Day DIY Hot Cocoa Bar // Hello Rigby Seattle Lifestyle Blog

With a few boxes of Starbucks Hot Cocoa and VIA instant coffee for those with a craving for caffeine, we had the base for our bar. Add in a couple of handfuls of candy, some marshmallows, and your favorite whipped topping you can create a fun hot cocoa toppings bar for a special Valentine’s Day treat. Obviously if everyone is of age, feel free to throw in some extra special ingredients if you get my drift. We opted to stick to keep it PG on this particular night, however. ;)

Stitch Fix February 2016

Affiliate Links
Ah, February. My favorite month of the year. Why do you ask? Oh, you know, it’s the month of my birth. And I’m one of those people that like to think my birthday is an excuse to celebrate all month long. That’s how I roll.

I guess it’s only fitting that I’d start off the month with a little treat yourself type of behavior in the form of a Stitch Fix! For those that asked last month, my new stylist is Lucy, and again she hooked me up with some great options! If you happen to be new to the Stitch Fix game, you can sign up, create a style profile, and a stylist will create a custom set of clothing and accessories with you in mind. Pick a date and you’ll receive your first box. A $20 styling fee will be charged once your Fix ships, and you can put that $20 towards anything in your box.

And if you’re not new, let’s get into it and check out the goods!

California Dreamin’ {Things to Do in Newport Beach}

It’s been a bit since we took our last trip, and I’ll admit after seeing so many beautiful photos of holiday travels I was feeling a little jealous. I started digging through the photos from our California trip and was reminiscent of our time spent in the O.C. and figured I was way overdue for sharing what we did while we were there!

We went down for a family wedding with my parents, so while we had an enjoyable trip, we did have to compromise so we could hang with my extended family too. We still were able to sneak in a few of our picks for food and activities, which is what I’ll be highlighting in photos and information about what we thought! And while the majority of these things to do ARE in Newport Beach, a few are destinations that you’re going to need a rental car for. We had a great experience renting through Enterprise, and it was incredibly reasonably priced for a weekend trip!
