Fred Meyer Bellevue Opening + Giveaway

Earlier this week, Fred Meyer in Bellevue reopened, and I had the opportunity, along with a few blog friends, to visit the store for a preview party before it opened to the public. To say the new store in Bellevue is stunning is an understatement. The store has expanded many of the popular sections like the deli, bakery, and beer and wine, as well as added a wine and beer bar (yes you can drink in store!), sushi counter, seating area, and a giant Starbucks. With the store serving as a WiFi hot spot, you can move in. Okay, maybe not, but it sure would be convenient. ;)

When bloggers get together, we often have a lot of fun. My friend Megan and I took to the front of the store where some of the season’s best flowers were for a little photo shoot. I had recently shopped at Fred Meyer for some new on-trend spring items and came up with this outfit.

9 Ways to Add Self Care to Your Daily Routine

You know what’s really hard? Taking time for yourself. It gets harder and harder the older I get. The more life throws at me, the first thing to go is taking care of myself. Sure, I get ready every morning, put some makeup and clothes on, but what the self care I’m referring to goes beyond that. I’m talking about having “me” time. Time to relax, zone out, and do the thing that makes you happy and is not for anyone else.

9 Ways to Add Self Care to Your Daily Routine

It’s hard for me to be able to take long stretches of time to myself, so while I’d love to schedule a spa day on the regular, it’s not only not budget-friendly, but it’s also not practical. I’ve tried to get in better habits of adding self-care to my normal routine, and I thought I’d share some of those tips with you today!

5 Ways to Support Women // International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day! It’s definitely a day to celebrate all of the amazing women in your world, and the women who came before us who paved the way for us to have the rights we have today. While I feel incredibly lucky to live in the time and area that I do, I am well aware that our work is far from over.

As someone who works in the tech industry, I work with a lot of incredibly smart and talented people. What I have come across, however, is a disparity in the female representation in the more technical fields. It’s something that is constantly evolving as more and more women find career paths in technology. In my short career, I have noticed an uptick in the female representation in the tech space, which is an amazing thing to see. That doesn’t mean, however, that women are always treated as equals. In fact, I’ve had several instances where I can confidently say that if I had been a man, I probably wouldn’t have been met with such hostility and opposition by those in positions of power.

Whether it was intentional or not, men often have a way of talking down to younger female employees, referring to us as “girls”, or calling us too emotional or sensitive. The fact of the matter is that women and men often approach situations differently, and if we’re going to make progress, we need to understand this and move forward. As a young career person, I know that I am just as capable of having good ideas and am able to complete my work just as well as the next guy or gal who is a few years my senior.

How to Support Women on International Women’s Day

What I’m getting at here is that as much as I’d love to say that women and men are equal in pay and opportunity, I don’t believe we’re there yet. And until we are, we need to support our fellow women and work to be sure that our voices are heard. So what, as females, can we do to empower the other women in our lives? On International Women’s Day, I thought it was appropriate to share some of the ways in which I’ll be supporting my fellow females today and in the future, even if I’m unable to take the day off work.

How to Make New Gal Pals in Adulthood

With today being Galentine’s Day, I thought it only made sense to share some thoughts on friendship. In my post-college years, I realized how difficult it was to make friends as an adult. The opportunities to reach out and find new female and male friends is just not there quite as often. You get up, go to work, come home, and repeat. Unless you happen to make friends at the office, at your local lunch spot, or during your everyday errands along the way, it can be a challenge.

How to Meet New Friends in Adulthood // Hello Rigby Seattle Fashion BlogPhotos by Vivian Hsu Photography

After hosting a Galentine’s Brunch event with Bissinger’s Chocolatier at Bottlehouse in Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood this weekend, I came to realize how fortunate I am to have made so many new friends during this stage of life. It’s not easy to put yourself out there, and it can be hard for an introvert like me to feel comfortable introducing myself to strangers. Joining friends over a glass of bubbly and chocolate (may I add, the new Bissinger’s Chocolate Covered Bing Cherries are probably the best thing I’ve discovered in awhile? Seriously, in love!) was the perfect way to celebrate Galentine’s Day, a day for celebrating the special gal pals in your life.

If you’re not quite yet feeling like you have as many gal pals in your life as you’d like, I totally get it. I felt the same way a few years ago. Fortunately through blogging and exploring my adult interests, I have been able to cultivate a small but amazing group of people I can call close friends. It wasn’t without a few stumbles though, so if you want to know a few surefire ways to make new friends, today I’m sharing my suggestions and road-tested ways of finding them!

Laundry Hacks to Make Clothes Last Forever

If I had a dollar for every time one of my garments got ruined because of a laundry mishap, well, I’d have quite a few dollars. Honestly, I’ve learned a lot over the years from some major laundry accidents. Living with roommates who just threw it all into one load and then piled everything in the dryer was an eye opener. I’ve come to realize that if you want your clothes to last forever, or close to it anyway, you have to be an advocate for them. Yes, I know this sounds a bit crazy, but I have clothes that have lasted me for the majority of my adult life which means only one thing: take care of them, and they will last.

Laundry Hacks to Make Clothes Last // Hello Rigby Seattle Fashion BlogDisclosure: Thanks so much to Persil for partnering on this post. All opinions are my own!

When it comes to caring for your clothes, you have to have the right tools for the job. My arsenal of laundry supplies has waxed and waned over the years, but the tried and trued stick with me. For me, that means a high-quality laundry soap, dryer sheets, hangers, a lot of lint rollers (dog mom problems!), and a sweater stone for those once a year sweater trims.

I discovered Persil ProClean Laundry Detergent while shopping at Walmart this year, and the brand new Pro10 formula is impressive. I know this because, just yesterday morning, we had a little accident involving a dog, a broken planter, and a mess of dirt all over my white fur “blogger” rug that I took these photos on. I’ve tried to clean it before to no avail with other detergents, but Persil ProClean Pro 10 cleaned it right up. I don’t know how it did it, but it must have been those 10 Dimensions of Clean. All the heart eyes emojis for that save!

Laundry Hacks to Make Clothes Last Forever

Other than the tools for the job, I’ve learned a few laundry hacks that I hope will help you avoid some of my past mistakes. Learning the hard way is never fun, but I’m willing to take one for the team if that means passing on my wisdom. With that said, here are my favorite laundry hacks to make your clothes last forever! (Or as long as possible, anyway.)
