Getting Over Writer’s Block

Do you ever have those times in life where you’re feeling like you have plenty of ideas, but when you try to put the proverbial pen to paper nothing comes out? After blogging for 3 almost 4 years now, I feel like I’ve hit my first big case of writer’s block, and the struggle to get through it and back to writing daily has been real.

Why does writer’s block hit when it seems like everything should flow easily? We’ve had plenty of things change in our lives this year (well, our living situation mostly. Hello, home ownership!) that should give me plenty of blog fodder. I have folders on my computer brimming with photos to share. But when I sit down to write, it’s like all the creative ideas that came to me in the shower vanish and I’m left struggling with the words that used to come so easily to me.

Overcoming Writer’s Block

So, here’s me sitting down, putting keys to my WordPress Editor with the hope of me working through this small blip of a lack of creativity in my blogging career. While writer’s block may not be the end of the world, it certainly does feel like a struggle, and one that I need to work my way through.

How to Score the Best Vintage Clothing for Fall

I can’t believe how fast September flew by. It doesn’t help that the month was quite the whirlwind; from my friend Lisa tying the knot, to visiting NYC for Fashion Week, to Bellevue Fashion Week, and ending the month off with a cold. Go figure. No crazy month would be complete without getting sick at least once. Or twice if you count food poisoning in NYC. Oy.

Regardless, I made the best of what time I did have between all the crazy, and did a lot of fall shopping, bought some new old furniture, and made some minor progress on getting more settled here in our new home. And when I say minor, I mean minor. There are still piles all over the house that need to be organized, however, most of the boxes have been emptied so that’s good!

How to Shop for the Best Vintage Clothing

With fall here now, I’ve been unpacking some of my favorite pieces out of their storage bins and I find that over and over again the ones that I keep around have something major in common: they’re old. Old as in vintage. My favorite fall pieces often come from my favorite eras, the 60s and 70s. I don’t know what it is about that time, maybe it’s the polyester, the fun colors, or the funky patterns. But whatever it is, I love it, and a lot of you seem to also. I thought I’d share a few tricks to finding the best vintage pieces that you’ll also want to keep around year after year.

Remember Me, the Girl Who Used to Blog?

Oh hi, remember me? I’m the girl who used to blog here regularly. Somehow, the end of summer ended up being a whirlwind, and while I’ve kept up on Instagram, my little blog has suffered. To be honest, I was incredibly surprised to look at my calendar and realize it has been over two weeks 27 days (thanks, Jae! ; ) ) since my last post. Oy.

You know, after blogging for 3+ years, life changes. I started this blog as a way to document Rigby growing up. (Hence the name, I sometimes forget that new readers may not remember the old days, my rambling posts, and the puppy photos!) While I don’t have any plans to go anywhere, I guess I just needed a break to live life a bit.

Today I thought I’d catch you up on what’s been going on behind the scenes, and what I’ve been working on. I may not have been actively posting on the blog, but I’ve kept up on Instagram, and many of the photos I’ve shared there will be future posts.

Back to School Memories from a Former College Student

It’s been a few years since I went back to school, but I can remember my most traumatic one like it was yesterday. I had applied to go to Washington State University almost as an after thought. At the time, j was wushu-washy whether I actually wanted to live in the middle of nowhere for four years of college, but figured it was worth it to apply to another in-state school, just in case.

If you’re not from the area, Pullman is a small college town east of the mountains. It’s about an hour and a half from civilization (a bigger city, Spokane) and about 10 minutes from the Washington-Idaho border. So yeah, middle of nowhere! And about this time, too many years ago than I’d wish to share, I was off to that mysterious place for freshmen orientation. What can I say, I’m a bit reminiscent of that time in my life and couldn’t wait to share a fun outfit that reminds me of heading back to school with Boohoo, one of my favorite affordable places to shop.

Moving Tips and Tricks to Keep Your Pup Happy

I made a huge mistake the first time we moved. I didn’t acclimate my dog to our new place properly and ended up rushing Rigby to the vet with some digestive issues if you get what I’m saying. Just like humans, dogs can get stressed and have health consequences too. And if you’re like me and hadn’t considered the impact of moving with dogs, then I’m hoping I can help you keep both you and your pup stress-free.

Moving with Dogs Tips and Tricks

When we moved this time around, I had quite a few questions from friends and family on how Rigby was handling things. Unlike last time, I was proud to announce that he seemed to be doing just fine! No emergency vet visits occurred, and Rigby’s tummy troubles seemed to be nowhere to be found. (And if you’ve taken any 4 am bathroom trips for a fussy dog like I have, then you know this is a real blessing. Seriously.) Because of what I experienced on our first move, I wanted to share what I’ve learned about moving with a sensitive pup in the hopes that you and your pup are feeling good about a move or a life change!
