When asked to describe my style, I often think in seasons. When I think fall, I think of the colors of leaves, 70s inspired dresses, and suede jackets. When I think winter, I often picture menswear inspired ankle boots and my (faux) leather jacket, the essential pieces for edgy outfits. Spring is romantic, and summer is bohemian. My personal style and what I gravitate towards is impacted by the color weather and my mood, and when winter rears its cold head, I often gravitate towards the more “edgy” pieces in my closet.

I recently attended Seattle’s Wedding Show as a guest of Safeway and Albertsons, and wore this exact outfit. I received so many comments about it as I walked through the shows that I figured it was worth recreating and documenting on the blog. Perhaps the vendors just wanted to get my attention (no, not getting married yet, however it did give me a lot of ideas if I were! ;)). Day to Night with 7 Charming Sisters

Even though Valentine’s Day has come and gone, that doesn’t need you need to pack away your red hues and date night outfits quite yet! There’s still time to celebrate the love you have with your significant other, family, friends or even your favorite critter. After all, shouldn’t we be celebrating the special moments in our lives every day?

With love in mind, I couldn’t think of a better piece than a slinky velvet midi dress to create the foundation for a night out on the town. Of course, if you’re like me, you probably wouldn’t wear an outfit quite like this to work, so I’ve dressed it down a bit so that you can easily swap out a few key pieces to make your outfit go from day to night in just a few minutes.

The first thing I did was grab a few pieces of jewelry I know would easily transition from day to night. How to Make New Gal Pals in Adulthood

With today being Galentine’s Day, I thought it only made sense to share some thoughts on friendship. In my post-college years, I realized how difficult it was to make friends as an adult. The opportunities to reach out and find new female and male friends is just not there quite as often. You get up, go to work, come home, and repeat. Unless you happen to make friends at the office, at your local lunch spot, or during your everyday errands along the way, it can be a challenge.

After hosting a Galentine’s Brunch event with Bissinger’s Chocolatier at Bottlehouse in Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood this weekend, I came to realize how fortunate I am to have made so many new friends during this stage of life. It’s not easy to put yourself out there, and it can be hard for an introvert like me to feel comfortable introducing myself to strangers. Joining friends over a glass of bubbly and chocolate (may I add, the new Bissinger’s Chocolate Covered Bing Cherries are probably the best thing I’ve discovered in awhile? Seriously, in love!) was the perfect way to celebrate Galentine’s Day, a day for celebrating the special gal pals in your life.

If you’re not quite yet feeling like you have as many gal pals in your life as you’d like, I totally get it. I felt the same way a few years ago. Fortunately through blogging and exploring my adult interests, I have been able to cultivate a small but amazing group of people I can call close friends. It wasn’t without a few stumbles though, so if you want to know a few surefire ways to make new friends, today I’m sharing my suggestions and road-tested ways of finding them!

Laundry Hacks to Make Clothes Last Forever

If I had a dollar for every time one of my garments got ruined because of a laundry mishap, well, I’d have quite a few dollars. Honestly, I’ve learned a lot over the years from some major laundry accidents. Living with roommates who just threw it all into one load and then piled everything in the dryer was an eye opener. I’ve come to realize that if you want your clothes to last forever, or close to it anyway, you have to be an advocate for them. Yes, I know this sounds a bit crazy, but I have clothes that have lasted me for the majority of my adult life which means only one thing: take care of them, and they will last.

When it comes to caring for your clothes, you have to have the right tools for the job. My arsenal of laundry supplies has waxed and waned over the years, but the tried and trued stick with me. For me, that means a high-quality laundry soap, dryer sheets, hangers, a lot of lint rollers (dog mom problems!), and a sweater stone for those once a year sweater trims.

I discovered Persil ProClean Laundry Detergent while shopping at Walmart this year, and the brand new Pro10 formula is impressive. I know this because, just yesterday morning, we had a little accident involving a dog, a broken planter, and a mess of dirt all over my white fur “blogger” rug that I took these photos on. I’ve tried to clean it before to no avail with other detergents, but Persil ProClean Pro 10 cleaned it right up. I don’t know how it did it, but it must have been those 10 Dimensions of Clean. All the heart eyes emojis for that save!

Outfit Ideas for Galentine’s Day

You know what my favorite weekend activity is? Brunching. It made the top of my Valentine’s Date idea list and when it came to planning a celebration of all things Galentine’s Day, my friend Megan and I knew brunch it was! We set off to meet our friend Julia at Pomegranate Bistro in Redmond for a little blogger catch up and girl time.

It was a gross day; gray and rainy, but we braved the storm because when you wear a cute outfit, it must be documented! Fortunately, Seattle bloggers are used to the rain and are willing to do almost anything to get the shot. We didn’t come prepared with the right outfits exactly, but we made it work. Anything for the blog. Almost.
