Strawberry is the New Black

We’re taking an extended weekend to celebrate Labor Day a bit early with Dave’s family, so today I have a guest post from Sophia! Sophia is a freelance writer from Brisbane, Australia with huge interest in beauty, fashion, makeup and graphic design. She is also very passionate about organic cosmetic products, natural beauty, and could be described as fashion addict and life lover. She writes in mostly beauty related topics, mainly through blogs and articles. You can find her on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or Pinterest.

Shades of the red; so pretty in the summer. Long, cold and boring winter is far behind, coats and boots are thrown in the back of the closet, and swimsuits and flip-flops are once again our daily uniform. But to truly blend with hot sunny summer and enjoy it the way we are supposed to, we have to ditch dull dark colors that we put ourselves in for the past couple of months. Black, brown and gray are out, and strawberry red is in!

Pamper Yourself with a Massage from the Soothe App

Complimentary Service: A massage was provided from the Soothe app in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own, of course!

Are you a massage fan? What a silly question. Who doesn’t like a massage?! Sitting all day at a computer, then coming home from work and sitting some more while I catch up on blog tasks does a number on my neck, shoulders and back. Usually, a massage are just a treat, but lately I’ve felt like it should be something that I get more regularly to treat some neck and lower back pain I have. Not to mention, there’s something about a massage that resets your mind and your mood.

Soothe App: Massage on Demand Now in Seattle! // hellorigby seattle beauty blog

Pamper Yourself with a Massage from the Soothe App

That’s why when I was contacted by Soothe app about their service launching in Seattle, I couldn’t wait to check it out. The cool thing about Soothe is that it’s like the Uber of massage. (And if you’re not familiar with Uber comparison, it’s just a service on demand. In this case, it’s massage therapists on demand.) Gone is the days of calling a spa or your local massage parlor, just open the Soothe app and schedule an appointment for later that same day, the next day, or weeks in advance.

Summer Hair Care Favorites

PR Sample/Gifted: Complimentary hair care products were provided to me in exchange for this review. Some items mentioned were also gifted to me with no review required. Affiliate Links: If you click on a link in this post, I may make a very small commission.

Come summer my hair is quite different from the rest of the year. I find it’s quick to get greasy at the roots, but the ends stay dry. When we get summer rainstorms, I can always tell because my hair starts frizzing away. I’ve tried to be better about choosing products for my hair to keep it in line, but I’m more of a dry-and-go kind of girl then a blow-out-and-curl. What can I say, I’m kind of lazy… and I like my products to be lazy-girl-friendly too.

So what have I been trying out this summer? A few oldies and a few new ones. Read on to find out what I’m liking to tame my hair this summer.

In 5 Years I… #FaceForward

Sponsored Post: Today I am partnering with Clinique to #FaceForward and share what advice I would give my future self. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve always fancied myself an entrepreneur. What can I say, it’s in my blood. I grew up helping my mom at her small business. By age 7 I had made $100 in one-day selling toys and clothes at a neighbor’s garage sale. At 10, I made decorative Thanksgiving Turkeys out of Hershey’s Kisses for an arts and crafts fair that sold out on the first day. (Yes, seriously. Embarrassing but true.) Since it was a two-day fair, my mom and I made a late night run to the craft and grocery stores so I could make more, and I sold out of those too. Pretty sure I made a killing (for a 10-year-old anyways!)

In 5 Years #FaceForward with Clinique // hellorigby seattle beauty blog

When I heard about the new Clinique #FaceForward campaign, it got me thinking about where I see myself in a few years. I had always thought that by 30, I would be a “businesswoman.” I envisioned myself dressing up every day, with a briefcase and power suit, off to  either a corporate job or running my own business. (And no, I’m not 30 yet, but I sometimes still feel like the kid that doesn’t know what they want to be when they grow up.)
