7 Ways to Prevent Dry Tangled Hair

Sponsored Post: Today I’m partnering with Moroccanoil to share what’s been working to keep dry tangled hair at bay this winter. All opinions are my own. :)

Am I the only one that struggles with dry tangled hair in the winter? Let’s just say that any time the weather gets cooler and the air is drier, you can bet I’ll be struggling with hair problems. It’s been a constant battle since childhood. Back then, I was a swimmer, so you can bet the life of swim cap wearing and chlorine dipping wreaked all sorts of havoc on my strands.

My mom would painstakingly comb out the “ratties” as she called them while I screamed and writhed in pain. While it’s no longer quite so dramatic, this year has particularly been hard on my poor little hairs. Cue me Googling like a maniac to try and figure out some way to get rid of my tangles once and for all.

Unfortunately, easier said than done. Dr. Google had all sorts of suggestions… but trying each idea individually never gave me lasting results. Instead, I had to figure out the perfect cocktail to keep my hair from becoming a rat’s nest. Today, I’m going to share with you what has been working for me.

Best & Worst of 2015: Beauty Dupes {Part 1}

Affiliate Links / I Bought It
Happy 2016! I’m excited to see what this year brings, but I had a few posts in mind for this week reflecting on things from last year. One of which is my favorite thing: beauty products! I tested out so many new products this year and had so much fun doing so.

This also meant that in trying things out, occasionally I would buy something and think, “Hmmm, this sure is similar to something else I already own…” What can I say, I like what I like, and occasionally I may accidentally buy something super simple. Or intentionally, because sometimes I want to know if a drugstore product could be even better than its higher-end counterpart!

New Years Eve Makeup & Giveaway

Affiliate Links / Product Samples

With just a few short days to go before New Years Eve, I figured I’d continue the celebratory looks with a makeup look! I wore this in yesterday’s post in the first outfit, though it might be a little hard to tell since there weren’t any close-ups of my face. ;)

My goal with this makeup look was something shimmery and sparkly, with a dramatic lip. I pulled out my Pur Cosmetics Eye Polishes which are both super long-lasting (I’ve worn these to several special occasions and haven’t had any creasing or movement) and beautiful! For the drama, I wanted to incorporate a really strong color, so I used my Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Pencil in Bad Romance and lipstick in Glastonberry. (Apparently this is the color that Rihanna wears most! Who knew.)

I’m also trying out a few other products from Pur Cosmetics in this look, as they were kind enough to send me a few to play with. I also received some extras that aren’t my shade, so I wanted to pass them along to you – so if you’re a bit darker complected then me, be sure to check out the widgets below in your shade!

Naked Smoky Tutorial & Giveaway

Affiliate Links / Product Samples

If last week’s softer pink hued makeup and pop of red wasn’t for you, how about it’s edgier, grayer cousin? I will say, this can easily be glammed up with a red lip, and I promise you won’t get any judgement from me. (In fact, I may or may not have worn a red lip with this to my holiday brunch. I’ll never tell.) But this makeup look makes a statement all its own.

I’ve had the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette since it came out but hadn’t been feeling much like doing a cool toned smoky look until recently. Maybe now that the weather is getting chilly and it feels like winter is truly upon us that is cause for me embracing the cooler hues. Not to say I don’t love the palette (I really do, actually! It’s full of a ton of great matte and shimmer shades that I’ve really enjoyed working with. The one glitter shade, Armor, I could live without though.), it just hasn’t been getting much love as of late.

But, no more. Below I’m sharing my Naked Smoky Tutorial of how I got this cool toned look AND I’m giving one Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette away so you can create this look too! I’ll also be throwing in a LeSportSac Makeup Bag & some other goodies to go with your new palette. All the details at the bottom.

Relaxing At Home: 7 Stress Relief Tips for the Holidays

Product Sample

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling the pressure of the holidays. Last weekend I decorated and organized our house, finished up Christmas shopping, ran errands, hosted a brunch on behalf of a brand with some fellow bloggers, met with the brand to give some insights, took a ton of photos for posts this week, and wrote yesterday’s post. I work full time so I only have my weekends to get work done around the house and for the blog now that we’re into winter and natural light photos are hard to achieve.

Now all this to say: I’m not complaining. Not at all. If I didn’t want to be busy, I wouldn’t be. I’m just saying that, like everyone else, I’m feeling the pressure and am starting to get a little frazzled. The end for me is in sight, but I know for some it’s not. So, I wanted to share a few ways I attempt to get a little relaxing at home time in between each of my tasks, and some stress relief tips to help you cope, especially around the holidays.

Relaxing at Home: Stress Relief Tips for the Holidays

1. Relax with a Book: Have a bit of downtime? Try curling up with a new book. Even if you only have 10 minutes, reading a chapter or two can be a great way to unwind or get your mind off the stress and into a story. Just a few minutes of distraction can be all you need to refocus and recharge a bit.
