7 Ways to Prevent Razor Burn

Sponsored Post: This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Schick, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #pmgschick #7dayshavechallenge #ad http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

I have a long history of battling razor burn and shaving rash, so I’m sure I’m not the only one that gives shaving the side eye from time to time. A few years ago, I picked up the Schick Hydro Silk Razor on sale, and my life was forever altered. (Sounds dramatic, but it’s true.) Since using it, I’ve not had a negative shaving experience. Sure, I’ve accidentally nicked myself here and there from not paying attention, but overall I’ve been able to successfully prevent razor burn.

7 Ways to Prevent Razor Burn

Recently I partnered with Schick and Skintimate to take the 7 Day Shave Challenge, and I’ve successfully stayed irritation free. The Schick Hydro Silk Razor hydrates the skin like no other razor and has a built in moisturizer to keep the skin feeling softer and smoother after each shave. I’ve found over the years that there are a few other ingredients that you need for a perfect shave every time besides the right tools. I thought I’d share those tips and tricks with you today so you too can be razor bump free this spring!

Daiso Makeup Haul

When was the last time you visited a Daiso store? For me, it had been about 5ish years since I’d been in, but after walking by a brand new one in Bellevue, it was calling my name and I had to go in. This new location was much less cramped than my last store visit, and I had no idea the treasure trove of cosmetics and makeup hiding inside!

If you’re not familiar with Daiso, it is a Japenese chain that sells nearly everything for $1.50. From ceramics to housewares to food to clothing items, you can find pretty much anything you probably don’t really need there. ;) It’s a global chain but in the United States is in Texas, California, and Washington. (Here’s their store locator if you want to do some further digging.) Oh, and the majority of the packaging is not in English, so best of luck if you don’t speak Japanese on figuring out what exactly you’re buying.

Daiso Makeup Haul

I thought it would be fun to try out their makeup and cosmetics. It was a little scary because as you’ll see in the photos, there are not many English words and I definitely do not read Japanese. Mostly, I was taking a stab in the dark and just grabbed items with appealing packaging. When I was checking out, the employee commented that the eyelashes in the gold packaging were her favorites, so I thought I’d probably be okay. To see what I bought and whether I’d buy any of these items again, read on!

March Digs & Duds + Giveaway!

Affiliate Links // The majority of items in this post were purchased myself, but if they were press samples, they are labeled as such. :)

It’s been a long time since I’ve shared what I’ve been buying and trying, and I thought I’d try to bring it back in a new format to recap some of my favorite (the digs) and least favorite (the duds) things in March. I’ve categorized things by type so you can scroll to what you’re most interested in (i.e. beauty, fashion, books, sales, subscriptions) and skim the rest.

I’d love to hear your feedback on this new format, or if you’d prefer to see more individualized reviews for some of these different topics, let me know!

Eye Makeup for Glasses

I think I lucked out, because when I was diagnosed with nearsightedness, wearing glasses was considered pretty cool. I only had to wear glasses to be able to see the overhead projector in my middle school classes, and I often had to fight my friends for my glasses to be able to see. Those four eyes references? Never heard them, and hopefully if you’re a fellow glasses-wearer, you didn’t either.

Now at my age, almost everyone I know has, at least, some visual impairment. For me, glasses are also somewhat of a fashion statement. The options are endless; large frames, small frames, colorful frames, simple frames, or even frameless frames. I often find myself choosing outfits and makeup looks based on my glasses too. If glasses help you make a fashion statement too, you’re definitely going to want to check out the #VSPStyleSweepstakes video to win a style consult and a new pair of designer sunglasses from VSPDirect!

Neutral Eye Makeup for Glasses

One such makeup look that is my go-to is a neutral eye look with thick winged liner. The reason I like this look so much is because it allows my lashes and eye color to pop, even behind thick frames! I’m going to be using a variety of products in this tutorial, from drugstore to higher end, but feel free to use whatever you have already. The goal is to use neutral colors that flatter your skin tone. I have neutral to cool skin and blue eyes, so I chose my eyeshadow and face powders based on that.

ELF Makeup Tutorial & Favorite Spring Lipsticks

Affiliate Links / I Bought It

Happy Spring! I can’t believe that it is officially here. It seems like this year has already been going by incredibly fast, but I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t ready for some better weather. As a blogger, my life revolves a lot around the weather. I mean, I live in Seattle. It rains a lot here, and it’s caused me a fair amount of grief when it comes to shooting outfit photos, and sometimes even indoor photos have to be scrapped if I’m relying a lot on natural lighting.

Here in Seattle, our first day of spring was a rainy one, but the sun did peek out at the end of the day which gives me hope there are more sunny days ahead. I wanted to share an everyday makeup look featuring an affordable makeup brand, e.l.f. Cosmetics! I was turned on to them when I was in college (so I’ve been buying the brand off and on for about eight years now!) and honestly, the brand has upped their game. Several of their products have become must-haves, and one product in particular that I tested out in my first beauty dupes post performed even better than it’s high-end competitor.

Since this makeup look goes with just about any lip color, I thought it would be fun to celebrate the new season by sharing 5 of my favorite lip colors to rock in the spring. As much as I love the deep wines and oxbloods of fall and winter, I’m going to retire them for now in favor of brighter and lighter hues.
