Casual Spring Outfit + Shopbop Sale Favorites

The weather has yet to make up its mind whether March is going to be more winter weather or if spring is on the horizon. Call me confused when one day we’re greeted with the sun and beautiful blue skies and the next day there’s snow on the ground. It’s times like these that my outfits from day to day seem like I’m dressing for two completely different climates, and that’s probably because I am!

During this awkward time between winter and spring, I find my wardrobe to be in limbo. I’m hesitant to wear skirts and dresses without tights for fear of freezing to death and pulling out some of my spring favorites like denim jackets and shirts, pastels, and light materials seem too soon.

Floral everything

Yes, I know everyone, and their mom wears florals for spring, but it’s for a good reason. Florals are a neutral, they add interest to an otherwise simple garment, and just make a lot of people happy! I wear florals year round, but I dig out my lighter colored pieces for spring especially. If you’re not big into allover floral prints, try adding them via an accessory. A shoe, bag, or detail on a jacket is a great option. Of course, I’m a fan of floral everything, so I’ve linked a few dress and top favorites below too!

Denim is critical for any transitional wardrobe, and I find myself wearing jeans almost every single day as of late. They’re a safe pick when it snows one day and is in the 50s and sunny the next. You just never know with crazy weather, and jeans will keep your legs warm while still looking on trend. I’m wearing a pair of black jeans in this outfit, but my Levi’s Trucker Jacket keeps the look feeling fresh and spring-y. If your weather is even milder than mine, opt for a lightweight denim shirt!

Pastels

Is there anything that screams spring more than the colors? When the sun peeks through the clouds, I immediately begin to crave all the light colors. Pastels are trending this spring, and I’m especially loving blush pink, baby blue, and a little dash of yellow. I find the easiest way to add pastels into your wardrobe is through classic pieces, like this striped button up, or through accessories like a handbag.

Denim jackets are a staple, but I’ll admit they can be a bit bland. The corner of any collar can be jazzed up with a little pin! The pins from Georgia Perry at Shopbop are some of my favorites. Who can say no to a cute lipstick, lips, or even Karl Lagerfeld pin?! Not this girl.

If it’s a texture you love, then opt for velvet! It’s beautiful, soft, and luxurious without breaking the bank. I am loving velvet accessories, like this Rebecca Minkoff LOVE Crossbody. However, a velvet dress or jacket can be stunning! The other great thing about velvet is that it can be dressed up or down, making it a wardrobe basic for anyone.

Ugh, I cringe at the notion of shopping, but your outfit looks adorable. And yup, florals in the spring. You just gotta do it;)

Love this because this is like my everyday uniform! I’ve started to wear my denims again, and put away my winter coats (not that it snows around here lol). I’m not entirely excited for summer heat, but I’m embracing the warmer-ish weather. :)

Great post. I think I have been most excited the last two years about velvet’s comeback, and I think it is very easy to work into this in-between time too! Thank you for sharing!
