As winter comes to a slow close, I’ve been dying to incorporate some of spring’s bright colors and trends into my outfits. Bright corals, pops of pink and pastel hues, baby blues, and beige-y blush tones dominated the runways for Spring 2017, and those colors have definitely been hitting store racks.

5 Ways to Add Spring Style to Your Outfits Now
Color was the inspiration for this outfit. When I saw these adorable Superga Floral Sneakers, I knew I had to have them in my life. (And a big thank you to J.Jill for sending these to me! I’m really fortunate to receive wonderfully gifted pieces from them every month!) They have just the right amount of classic style to make them feel timeless, but the pattern keeps them feeling fresh and new. When I was thinking of how I wanted to style them, I had several outfits in mind, but the combination I’m sharing today is my favorite! Whether you’re incorporating a funky patterned shoe into your work wardrobe, or are just styling it for a weekend of brunching and errands (my favorite kind!) I hope these style tips will be helpful!
When it comes to styling a statement piece like these bright, patterned shoes, I wanted to be sure I was repeating my favorite elements throughout the outfit. The colors including pretty pinks and reds so, of course, I had to grab my two favorite red pieces: this Cambridge Coat and my Rebecca Minkoff Regan Crossbody bag. Any guesses as to what my favorite colors is?! ;) Of course, I also wanted to incorporate neutrals and other less bold pieces into this outfit too.
Spring is still for sweaters
Don’t pack up your sweaters just yet! Especially if you live in a temperamental climate like we have in the Pacific Northwest, winter may be rearing its head for many more weeks still. (Truer words couldn’t have been spoken – I had written the first draft of this before we had a recent snowstorm, and again we had flurries yesterday. What on earth is going on?!) Sweaters don’t have to look too covered up, though. Even though I opted for a turtleneck fishermen style sweater from Boohoo, {one of my absolute favorites, by the way!} showing a little leg breaks it up. Pairing a sweater with a lighter bottom will give you the spring vibes without compromising your comfort!
Skirts are for twirling
Is there anything more springy than a full skirt?! I think the only thing that would make this white one more appropriate would be a little dusting of flowers. But really, though, this midi skirt {similar version under $30 here!} is one I bought on a whim a few years back and is a constant staple in my wardrobe to add a little girly flair. I’ve linked a few favorites (since this one is clearly not around anymore) below for your shopping pleasure!
Florals, groundbreaking I know
Floral patterns for spring may not be groundbreaking, but if you want to feel all the spring vibes, it’s the easiest way to do so. If florals aren’t your thing, a shoe or accessory instead of a head to toe pattern may be more for you. Plus, florals can be styled year round, so don’t be afraid to restive your fall and winter floral pieces too. Don’t forget to accessorize the rest of your outfit too! I chose to play off the colors in my floral patterns by selecting rose gold accents like this bracelet from Uncensor Yourself {it says “I Can’t Even” and I’m obsessed with these!} and my chic Cluse Watch. I’ve shopped and saved some of my favorite smaller ways to add floral to your wardrobe below!
Colorful coats are still in
Fortunately, my favorite red coat from winter works well into spring too. I’m happy that red is still making its way into wardrobes this year, but I’m opting to tone it down with a neutral outfit. I love a good neutral outfit paired with a pop of color, and think pairing simple basics allows your colorful pieces to shine! This coat from J.Jill is perfect for protection from a freak snowstorm but is also lightweight enough to not be too warm for the early days of Spring.
Put some spring in your step
I grabbed a pair of Vintage Floral Vans Slip Ons earlier this month and picked out these Superga cuties from J.Jill, so clearly I have floral sneakers on the brain. Fortunately, they’re very different styles and patterns which mean they’ll each get worn a bunch in a variety of different ways. Like boyfriend jeans and a white tee on a warm spring day, or re-styled with my red pocket dress from J.Jill that I rocked for a Christmas party outfit.
And with that, it’s about time to add some spring pieces to your wardrobe, am I right? Peace out winter, spring is almost here! I hope these ideas of what to work into your winter wardrobe to add some spring spice were helpful!
Do you rock the winter outfits as long as possible, or are you already embracing everything floral and pastel? Let me know in the comments below what your favorite winter to spring transitional piece is!
That’s a gorgeous outfit. I’m definitely gonna try to wear a sweater with bare legs, I think it’ll look nice.
Thanks so much Marta! I’m sure you’re going to look fabulous and I can’t wait to see your outfit! :)
The sneakers part was a surprise, but you pulled it off quite perfectly!
Aw thanks Jae! I loved the sneakers and had fun putting this outfit together with them in mind! :)
The red is adding so much pep to the whole picture! It really is spring worthy! And I like your sweater-with-lighter-bottoms idea because we just had to put a halt to packing our sweaters as well as the weather here got cold again last night!
Thanks so much Kata! Agreed, it was a dreary day when we shot these photos and the red helped so much! :) Hope you have some spring weather soon, we had more snow flurries this morning. It’s been crazy!
I love the way in which you are determined to bring springtime to you even if the weather isn’t there yet! Thank you for sharing this outfit inspiration and ideas!
