Eek. It’s happening. Our renovation on our condo is finally underway. As you’re reading this, someone is demolishing our living room and gutting our kitchen.

Just kidding. They’re just painting, but it feels like more than that. We had to move our entire living room, dining room, and kitchen into our office and bedroom, so I am typing from the comforts of our bed. Keeping it real, guys.

Anywho, we basically spent our entire last 3 days preparing for this plus I’ve been in packing/planning mode because I’m heading to Miami and then the Bahamas for an entire week with my girl and fellow blogger, Sarah.

Don’t worry, it won’t be too quiet around here, as I’ve lined up some amazing posts from some great blog friends and I doubt you’ll miss me at all. ;)

In between this mess of a house, I somehow managed to still put together a halfway decent outfit this weekend. Obviously I was not moving our living room in this get up, but if it’s more entertaining, please feel free to imagine that this outfit, 5″ Loubs (thrifted btw, there’s no way I could actually afford those!) and all, is how I roll to move.

But really though, business casual outfits are my jam. Living in Seattle will do that to you. Every day is “Casual Friday” at my office. Jeans are more than acceptable, and most of my co-workers wear graphic tees and hoodies daily. The heels especially feel fancy pants, but let’s be honest, I almost always pack flats to get around Downtown.

What I’m Wearing
Blazer: LC Lauren Conrad (similar)
Top: Loft, thrifted (similar)
Jeans: Old Navy Diva Skinny Leg (more like straight leg…)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin, thrifted (similar)
Necklace: Chain Link & Tassel Necklace c/o Hoops Baby
Rings: Jules Smith Arched Bar Stacking Rings via Rocksbox

And on that note, Happy Monday! How did you spend your weekend? I hope it was much more fun than mine! ;)

I hope the reno process is quick and painless. People in Atlanta seem to dress for work in jeans, too, unless they work in accounting or something fancy. Tim usually wears a t-shirt or a button up and jeans with sneakers. No suits!

Haha the way Tim dresses always reminds me of Dave. T-shirts and jeans almost always too. The nerdier the better. ;) I hope so too on the reno front, but so far it doesn’t seem like that. I’m just hoping we don’t hire anyone who screws something up!

I love that more offices are becoming look nice but jeans are acceptable. It’s like a fashion dream. Good luck on the home reno! I can’t wait to read about your adventures with it (hopefully no trials and tribulations with it) I also hope you and Sarah have fun in Miami! I just got back from there recently and am already missing it!

I’m so glad too. It’s pretty rare for a company here to have any sort of dress code though, honestly!

Thanks! We’ve already run into a few “surprises” but such is life ;) Ooh, any suggestions on where to go/what to do in Miami?!

It’s an absolute MUST to get Cuban food while you’re down there. I know that seems redundant being in Miami, but you’d be surprised how good it actually is down there. One thing we did that’s a bit off the beaten path but if it’s up your alley it was really interesting was the World Erotic Art Museum. It’s a collection of things as far back as 1400 through different societies and lenses and how it impacted our culture and changed it. I thought it was fascinating. You also can’t miss lounging on the beach because WOW is the ocean one of the prettiest clearest colors I’ve seen!

I love Cuban food so you can bet that’s on my list. Any particular places that really stuck out to you as being amazing?

Ahhh I feel like I’ve heard about museum – sounds like it could be so interesting! And yes, lots of beach time for sure!

Um, you look GORGEOUS. That’s the most amazing top knot I’ve ever seen :) I love how much of your wardrobe is thrifted, it’s a testament to how great the second hand shops are in Seattle. There’s a thrift store on Bainbridge Island where I always score big time. I have to ask…are the louboutins significantly more comfortable than a regular heel? I’ve heard that “if your feet hurt, you’re wearing a low quality shoe” and while I don’t buy that completely, I wondered if it was true at least partially.

Um, thank you! You’re too sweet, for real. Now I want to head over to Bainbridge Island to see this magical place! I’ve actually never been over there!

So, yes and no. They’re more comfortable than I expected, but as a rule, I don’t find more expensive shoes to make your feet hurt less. I imagine certain styles are better than others – like these have a built in platform that makes the crazy height more manageable. The most comfortable heels I own are my Corso Como Del pumps, but I had to try about 10 different black pumps to find the right ones that weren’t under 3 inches, and I could wear out and not want to chop my feet off. ;)
