As you may remember, I traveled this weekend to Dallas, and I’m still pretty tired. Blame the time difference, or maybe I’m just getting old… but when I get tired, my brain gets tired. Which means its really hard to get the blog juices flowing. So here I am just staring at this blank post, when I figured I could do something that I’m fairly good at. Talking about myself.
I thought I’d share 5 things that you may not already know about me. Or maybe you do know these things already, in which case you must be a stalker. Or you just pay attention. Either way, here we go:
1. I’m terribly afraid of spiders. They freak me out so much. I think the scariest/grossest occurrence was when I was in my bathroom at my parent’s house, minding my own business when it fell from the ceiling onto my arm. I about died of a heart attack, and then started freaking out and tears were flowing. Yes, spiders make me cry, and there have been multiple instances of this. I’d like to think I’m a little less scared of them now, but I also haven’t had one crawling on me so…
2. My first car was a 2006 Ford Mustang. I saved up starting at age 5 for it (I was 17 when I bought it). I so loved that thing, but Club Mustang met its demise when I wasrear ended while waiting to make a turn. It was very sad. I now drive a Volvo C30, which I love (maybe) even more. ;)
3. I’ve broken three bones in my lifetime. My right arm twice, and my middle finger once. There’s a story for each one, but I think I’ll save those for another time. Though you have heard the story behind the first broken bone in my 10 truths and a lie post.
4. I’ve had a lot of odd jobs throughout my teens and into early adulthood, but the oddest/worst was probably my work as a telefundraiser for my alma mater. While I learned a lot, it is probably the most difficult and the least rewarding.
5. I’m totally an introvert. I realize this more and more when I attend social events. I mean, I don’t think I’m that awkward, but I’m not the type to just be all up in your business and find out everything about you either.
Now that you’ve put up with me blabbing about myself, I’ll give you a little reward. How about $20 to Starbucks? Have a fancy pants drink from the ‘Bux on me and my bloggy friends Kate, Ash, and Sierra, or save and get a ton of iced coffees. Your choice:
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you? I’d love to hear them in the comments!
Thank you for being introverted with me this weekend. And everything else. You are fantastic.
<3 thanks girl, you too!
#1… YES. I once left a job because I saw one too many of them, the fear once took over my life! I feel like I’m a bit better now… but will still cry and shake uncontrollably when I see one. Ugh!
oh that sounds awful! when i was a student the call center I worked at was infested with Brown Recluse spiders, and one of my co-workers got bit on her butt. Yuck!
My first car was a Mustang too :)
Oh that’s awesome! Mustang drivers unite :)
i am afraid of spiders too, jeepers creepers they freak me out. i have only broken 1 bone – my pinky finger! lol.
Ouch! I bet the pinky finger hurt!
My boyfriend is completely afraid of spiders. Me? They don’t bother me so much. Hah. I can relate to be an introvert, however. I tend to just sit back and observe in social situations.
Haha, funny, mine is the opposite. He rescues them with his hands and puts them outside! That’s pretty much my MO too in social situations, if possible :)
Fun facts! ahhhh spiders! And what a fun first car! Saving since you were 5? Crazy (smart) girl!
Haha, you can thank my parents for that one! :)
The fear I have of spiders is SO irrational too! I am set into a major panic even just touching a web!
Eek, gross. I hate walking into spider webs, I’m always convinced they’re in my hair!
I would be very interested to hear how you broke your middle finger!! Ha! And I agree with you on the spiders, too many eyes and legs. ugh.
I’ll have to share that one of these days… it’s a bit of an interesting story!
I worked as a tele-fundraiser for my alma mater too. Twins.
Ha! How funny!
I am most definitely an introvert too – I completely get you on that part! And what’s funny is…the one thing I’m not afraid of? Spiders. The dark and the ocean, yes, but I am usually the one killing the spiders in the end :)
Haha, I’ve gotten better about being able to kill them for sure, but they still freak me out!
This is a great idea to post 5 things about you! I’ve broken my arm twice too but I’ve also broken probably all my fingers and toes… haha I was very clumsy as a kid!
Oh wow! Lots of broken bones, though toes are fairly easy to break I suppose. I know I’ve jammed my little toe enough times that its crooked. :(
I’m with you on the spiders lol….can’t stand them! I’ve never broken a bone, but I manage to always injure myself some kinda way ha.
Haha, I have the same problem!
I’m an introvert too, unless I’ve had alcohol. Yeah… But then I freak out over what I might have said.
Haha, sounds like the usual side effect of alcohol. ;)
Hope you get to relax after your busy weekend! :)
It’s funny, I’m the same with spiders. I start to hyperventilate and cry. A tiny one landed on my arm at work once and I was having trouble breathing, it was so tiny it took my colleagues a while to find out what was bothering me and flick it off. I was so embarrassed, but I was too frozen to move and too scared to speak so they just saw the shaking and the tears! I don’t sit so close to office plants now ;)
Oh my gosh that sounds awful! Thanks Mica, haven’t had much time to relax (last weekend was busy too, sigh!) but looking forward to having no plans this coming weekend! :)
I was a telefundraiser for my school too! I agree with you, worst job ever but definitely learned a lot of good skills! And it looks good on my post-grad resume…
Oh yes, great skills, terrible, terrible job! I don’t regret it, but man some people are mean! I’m sure you have some stories too!
This is so immature, but the cast on the middle finger sounds hilarious to me! I would’ve waved that thing around at plenty of people bahahah ;)
I was 5 (and innocent) when it happened, so I had no idea until some little boy told me about it!
this reminds me that i should share my broken bone stories one day too. and my biiiig fear is millipedes/centipedes/whatever they are called. we get them every once in awhile in the house and i FREAK out.
Ew, those are disgusting too! Yes, share your broken bones stories! I’d love to read that.
I hate spiders with a passion. I once thought I had washed one down the plug hole. Only to get in the shower a few hours later and it climbed back out while I was in the bath! So scary and I ran naked out of the room…
Very jealous that your first car was a Mustang – saving since you were five is impressive – that’s a girl that knows what she wants!
Katie <3
Oh my gosh how awful! That spider was determined!
Haha yeah, I can thank my parents for instilling a serious savings plan in me!
I definitely feel you on the spiders… tears are almost always included for me!
They’re the absolute worst. Seriously.
I am with you on #1! Once there was a GIANT spider in the office while I was working and I instantly had a panic attack and started hyperventilating while crying. Oh, I also climbed onto my desk…there were about 15 people around me.
Haha, I’m sorry to laugh at your horrifying experience but that sounds like something I would do.
I love posts like these! Great to find out more about you.
Thanks Jemma! :)
wow broken 3 bones, touch wood. I am the same about spiders, jesus when I read it crawled on you I died a little inside
ugh, yes the crawling on me was the worst possible feeling! so gross, eek!
This was a great post! Learning about the person behind the computer is always welcomed! I can’t believe you saved up for a car starting at 5 though, pretty incredible. Nice to meet you.

Thanks Ayana! Nice to meet you as well :)
I just think bugs in general are absolutely disgusting! That’s awesome that you saved up for your own car! And I’m an introvert too, I’m usually the one that just sits there and listens to everyone else talk.
Yeah, I’m definitely not a bug fan either. Thanks Alyssa! :)
I hate spiders, too! Even if they are just on TV or in a book, I don’t like looking at them.
Eek, yeah, so creepy!
Lizards make me cry .. No i lose all sense of reality and turn into a baby, so dont feel too bad about the spiders haha
oh no! lizards would totally freak me out too, but we don’t have any here so thank goodness for that!
Isn’t it funny that so many of us are so terrified of little things much smaller than us? I totally get it, I’m not terrified of all spiders, just the poisonous ones, but I don’t want them hanging around me. I do have an irrational hatred/fear of earwigs. I will throw away anything an earwig touched. Bleh. I am totally an introvert too. I could hole up in a house all by myself and be fine. I am petrified to meet people. I get so nervous if I see someone at a store that I know. I’ll avoid them or pretend I never saw them. I would love to hear how your broke your middle finger!! I would’ve had fun with that!! Well, not the breaking of, but the cast part. ;)
Oh it is so ironic! We very rarely have any of the poisonous ones near us, but we did have a black widow in our house a couple of months ago that really freaked me out and made me want to burn the house down, basically. Yuck!
I’ll have to share the broken finger story here sometime soon :)
I am horribly terrified of spiders too. I think most people wouldn’t peg me as an introvert.
Spiders are the worst!
Dang girl! For as much as I had saved up, I had to spend it on tuition for college! I now am in the process of saving up for a car and I am hoping I can get one soon to get around!
I was so fortunate to have my parents pay for that, otherwise I’m sure that’s where my savings would have gone also!
Spiders make me cry too! I hate when I am just minding my own business and all of a sudden a huge spider is there to scare the poop out of me. Gah, I wish they would just go away!!
Ugh, totally agree with you! My arch nemesis for sure.
Don’t feel ashamed of being afraid of spiders; once when I was younger, a giant moth (the size of my whole hand!) landed on my shoulder while I was walking outside, and I had a straight up panic attack, haha!
Oh gosh, moths are so gross too! We’ve had so many of them around this year too – yuck!
I’m terrified of spiders too! Hate them!
Always fun learning random things :D I’m jealous that that was your first car – mine was a massive dodge van from the 70s… and it was the late 90s when I got it… gotta admit it was fun for partying in though haha
Haha, that sounds awesome!
You sound like my sister in law when it comes to spiders. She once found one in her bathroom when she was getting ready for work and called her mom to stop on her way to work to kill it!
haha oh my gosh! I’m not that bad, I’ll at least attempt to kill them with a shoe :)
i am just as deathly afraid of spiders. i can’t remember the last time a spider touched me but i seriously freeze and cry too.. especially if i feel stuck in a situation.. like in a room with a spider and i can’t get out bc the spider is at the door.. i think i’m an introvert too.. i can’t tell. or maybe i’m just shy. i don’t mind being around people as long as i don’t have to talk to them haha what is that?
I find myself being introverted and extroverted, depending on my mood I guess. Introverts tend to prefer time by themselves, or in smaller groups. And like you, I can be shy, but do enjoy groups sometimes too.
I love Volvo’s too. It started when I was in HS! It’s nice meeting you
Nice meeting you too, Michelle! This is my first Volvo and I love it ;)
Ah, the spider fear! I never thought it was an actual thing until I started dating my fiance (who is TERRIBLY frightened by them after a really bad bite that landed him in the hospital as a child)!
Oh no, that would definitely make me even more afraid!
I am right there with you with all of the odd jobs. Although, your worst job seems way worse than mine
Haha oh no, what was your worst job?
Totally get the spider fear, I run away from them when ever I see one. Fundraising doesn’t sound funny at all :-)
Ugh yes me too! Haha, there was some interesting conversations I had with people, but also some awful ones too :)
