So I thought it would be fun to participate in the Accent Vlog link up with The Other Juliette, Allieology, Cause You Gotta Have Faith, and the Wife in Training… even if I am a few days late. Oops. This also happens to be my very first vlog, so go easy on me.
Oh and shout out to YouTube for picking THE WORST possible screen capture. Thanks, guys. (OKAY just kidding, I needed to verify my account and then I could upload a custom one. You’re welcome in advance if this happens to you. Also, thanks to Kate and Lix for the lack of scary face.)
Enjoy:
1. Your Name
2. Where you’re from.
3. Pronounce the following words: Aunt, Roof, Route, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Pajamas, Caught, Naturally, Aluminum, Crackerjack, Doorknob, Envelope
4. What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
5. What is a bubbly carbonated drink called?
6. What do you call gym shoes?
7. What do you call your grandparents?
8. What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
9. What is the thing you change the TV channel with?
10. What is the bug that when you touch it, it rolls into a ball? How about the one that lights up at night?
11. What do you say to address a group of people?
12. Do you speak any other languages? If so, say something in that language(s).
13. Do you think you have an accent?
14. End by saying any 3 words you want.
So what do you think? Do I have an accent?
That was a great first vlog Jenn! You sounded like a pro! Also, you have an accent, to me, but that’s expected, I’m from clear across the country! I don’t think I have an accent but you could prob pick out the Jersey when I speak. I get what the person who said Midwestern meant – I think that’s the default reference for anyone who doesn’t sound like they’re from New Yawk or the South. If I heard more people from the Pacific Northwest speak, I bet I would say you sound right at home ;)
Thanks, Jamie! I imagine I’d think you had an accent too, or at least with some of your words/phrases. :)
Oh Yeaaaa CAWFEE TAWK
This is SUCH a great idea! I’m sad I missed the boat on it… maybe I will randomly throw it out there later this week! And we call those little bugs that roll into balls, roly polies. Crazy right?
Never too late! I highly recommend participating if you can :) I love hearing everyone’s “real” voice!
You DEFINITELY have an accent! And I agree with Jamie – everyone that doesn’t have a north/south accent sounds the same to me!
Haha, well I stand corrected! Though I didn’t notice that much of an accent on your vlog, just certain words… and obviously the ya’ll thing. ;)
The two things that stuck out the most is the shopping cart – I call it a buggy LOL and that you pronounced roof properly – it’s not ruuuff. This was so cute and awesome!
Thanks, Ash! So funny you call it a buggy! I don’t think I’ve ever heard or noticed that around here!
I looove hearing other blogger’s voices!! You are so cute, and have a real talent for vlogging, you didn’t seem nervous at all.
I had no idea this link up existed, but I’m thrilled! I have a very strong accent and have been wanting to do a vlog forever – this seems perfect! So I may just participate as well…
I hope you will so more blogs in the future, that was awesome!
*vlogs -stupid auto correct
Haha, I just pretend I’m talking to someone I know and it’s not so terrible. I did have to hype myself up – it’s easier to talk to a real person than just a screen! :) Apparently people enjoy the vlogging, so maybe I’ll make it a regular thing… hmmm, I smell a link up!
this is the best thing ever! i loved this so much. i totally want to do this!
anywho, people in melbourne say ‘pellow’ as well. funny!
Oh that’s too funny! I’m glad I’m not alone. You must do it, I would love to hear your accent!
This is a funny linkup! I’m Italian so my accent is quite evident ehehehe. I’m stopping by via #fabfavorites linkup and I’m your newest follower via Bloglovin. Hope you will follow back, so we can stay in touch!

Ha, I bet it is! Thanks for stopping by, Coco! Excited to check out your blog too. :)
I should so do this! This is amazing! Obvs you have an accent to me but since im not from the US that doesnt matter much lol
Yes you should! The more the merrier, I love creeping on everyone’s vlogs, and I’m so curious to hear your accent!!
Fellow Washingtonian here! I just started following your blog and caught this blog before I realized you are from Seattle too! I can totally relate with a few things like the Potato Bug. If you say that name in California (where I live now) people will freak out. It’s a gnarly bug that is not as cute as our Potato Bugs, but Californians calm them Roly-Polys. Weird! Also – I was converted to saying soda instead of pop because Californians also freak out a bit when they hear pop. I think that’s where we get the mid-western comment from. I’ve also been told I have a midwest/southern accent, so I think We’re a Midwest state on the west coast. :-) I’m also from a small Washington town called Sedro-Woolley, so that could explain part of it.
Thanks for sharing, as it’s always nice to hear a bloggers real voice! You have a nice one (not weird at all), with not much of an accent in my opinion. :)
Hi Sarah! Nice to e-meet you! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who knows them as potato bugs! I like the way soda sounds better than pop, but growing up it was always called pop. Old habits die hard! Thanks for the compliment, I always think my voice sounds super weird when I listen to it! :P
