Everyday Contour Tutorial

Sponsored Post: Today I’m partnering with Maybelline and Collective Bias to share my looks to love just in time for Valentine’s Day. All opinions are my own. :) #MNYLookstoLove #CollectiveBias

Contouring is a makeup trend that won’t quit. For a hot minute, it was all about the strobing, but I’m back to seeing contouring kits and new products related to the contour everywhere! For a long time, I was mystified by the concept of contouring. Sure, natural shadows and highlights of the face make sense, but creating them with makeup? Seemed like something only done in the movies!

Definitely not these days, and with the introduction of so many accessible contour kits, it’s easier than ever to give it a try. Maybelline recently introduced the Master Contour Palette and honestly it’s one of the best kits I’ve tried. The shades of all three products in the kit go really well with my cool-to-neutral fair skin tone and for the price, the color payoff can’t be beat. Today I want to share with you how easy it is to add contouring to your everyday routine, as well as a peek at the brand new Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation!

First up, let’s dive into getting that skin looking prepped and polished. I used a daily moisturizer and then patted a little primer in my t-zone. I have some larger pores in this area that I like to make sure are all covered up.

Best & Worst of 2015: Beauty Dupes {Part 1}

Affiliate Links / I Bought It
Happy 2016! I’m excited to see what this year brings, but I had a few posts in mind for this week reflecting on things from last year. One of which is my favorite thing: beauty products! I tested out so many new products this year and had so much fun doing so.

This also meant that in trying things out, occasionally I would buy something and think, “Hmmm, this sure is similar to something else I already own…” What can I say, I like what I like, and occasionally I may accidentally buy something super simple. Or intentionally, because sometimes I want to know if a drugstore product could be even better than its higher-end counterpart!

Naked Smoky Tutorial & Giveaway

Affiliate Links / Product Samples

If last week’s softer pink hued makeup and pop of red wasn’t for you, how about it’s edgier, grayer cousin? I will say, this can easily be glammed up with a red lip, and I promise you won’t get any judgement from me. (In fact, I may or may not have worn a red lip with this to my holiday brunch. I’ll never tell.) But this makeup look makes a statement all its own.

I’ve had the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette since it came out but hadn’t been feeling much like doing a cool toned smoky look until recently. Maybe now that the weather is getting chilly and it feels like winter is truly upon us that is cause for me embracing the cooler hues. Not to say I don’t love the palette (I really do, actually! It’s full of a ton of great matte and shimmer shades that I’ve really enjoyed working with. The one glitter shade, Armor, I could live without though.), it just hasn’t been getting much love as of late.

But, no more. Below I’m sharing my Naked Smoky Tutorial of how I got this cool toned look AND I’m giving one Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette away so you can create this look too! I’ll also be throwing in a LeSportSac Makeup Bag & some other goodies to go with your new palette. All the details at the bottom.

Burberry Beauty Mulberry Smokey Eye & Giveaway

Is there anything more pampering then going and getting your makeup done? Honestly, I think not. There’s something really nice about not being the one in control of your face, and I absolutely love getting my makeup done at Nordstrom because I always learn something new.

Last Monday, I stopped by after work to check out the new Burberry Beauty Counter at Nordstrom’s Flagship store in Seattle. Adam, a local makeup artist and beauty manager at Nordstrom, let me know about the new line and invited me to check it out. Being the beauty fanatic I am, I said of course!

Thanksgiving Makeup

Affiliate Links

Now that you’ve donned your best comfy and cute Thanksgiving outfit, I’m sure you’re going to want to get into the holiday spirit with your makeup too! I thought it would be fun to share one of the makeup looks I wore in yesterday’s post, and also give thanks for you by offering up my favorite holiday makeup palette from Make Up For Ever to one lucky winner. (More on that at the very bottom of the post!)

I’m so used to seeing holiday tutorials featuring a bright red lip and shimmering champagne eye makeup… so instead I went a little more 90s grunge and opted for a brown smokey eye and mauve-taupe lip. This eye makeup has enough shimmer, but enough boldness to offset an even bolder lip look. I recently wore this lip combination to an event and got so many compliments that I knew I had to recreate it, and why not for Thanksgiving? Follow along with the simple tutorial below.
