What to Wear for Thanksgiving 2.0

Is anyone else in total and utter shock that Thanksgiving is next week?! When I had that realization at the beginning of this week I almost couldn’t believe it. Before we know it, the holiday season will truly be in full swing and then we’ll be ringing in 2018. Time flies when you’re having fun, I guess!

Something I always try to plan in advance of Thanksgiving, other than what I’ll be bringing for dinner of course, is what to wear! Thanksgiving Day consists of traveling for a few hours by car, so I have a short list of requirements for my outfit. It needs to be comfortable for the car ride, it can’t be wrinkle-prone, and it needs to have some stretch and flowiness to hide a bloated belly. This girl loves to eat and Thanksgiving isn’t a day for dieting! ;)

What to Wear For Thanksgiving This Year // Seattle Style BlogLiving in such a casual city, I love any excuse to dress up a bit. Thanksgiving is a perfect time to do this, and I love picking out pieces that are comfortable and dressier. Last year, I picked out this top and skirt combination to wear for the holiday. Why mess with a good thing?! Adding in a few different pieces this year makes it into (almost) an entirely new outfit.

A striped button up blouse with a pussy bow is dressy yet goes with nearly anything! If jeans are more your thing, no worries! This blouse looks fantastic tucked into jeans, or even half tucked in. I opted to pair it with this skirt that has an elastic waistband. Hello, comfort!

What to Wear For Thanksgiving Holiday // Seattle Fashion BlogThe skirt is a windowpane pattern that compliments the small stripes in my blouse perfectly. I’m a huge fan of print and pattern mixing, as I’m sure you know, and an easy way to pull off the look for those who might still be a bit intimidated by it is when you stick to the same neutral color family. What’s more neutral than black, white, and gray?

Additionally, I tend to get a little cold on long car rides. Dave runs quite warm, so while he’s feeling toasty, I’m often freezing. I’ve learned that a happy medium has to be found, and it’s often still a bit too chilly for me. That’s why Berkshire Cozy Tights have been my go-to for the past couple of years as soon as the temperatures drop. They have a woven fleece lining that keeps my legs toasty without adding extra bulk to my legs. They come in a variety of neutral colors like black, gray, brown, and navy as well to go with nearly any outfit. You’ll often find me popping these on under dresses and skirts throughout the late fall and winter seasons. A pair of black booties from Thursdays went perfectly with this outfit!

What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner // Seattle Fashion BlogThe final addition to my Thanksgiving outfit, is of course, a cozy sweater! I love feeling warm and cozy, especially lately now that the temperatures have been dropping close to freezing at night. We generally make at least one stop on our way home from Thanksgiving for some early Black Friday shopping, and waiting in lines can be absolutely frigid! My sweater coat from J.Jill is the perfect match for this outfit, and I love how the sweater adds some fun texture to the mixed patterns in my outfit. Plus, who doesn’t love snuggling up with a good sweater coat for a long car ride?!

Just pop on a cute crossbody bag for all of your essentials, a few gold rings or bracelets, your hybrid Smartwatch to keep track of those steps, and you’re off to Thanksgiving dinner! I hope these tips for putting together a holiday outfit that will keep you warm and cozy has been helpful, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.

What are you up to this Thanksgiving? What are you planning to wear?! I’d love to hear all about it in the comments below!
