Reading Challenge: What I Read in January

Since today marks the first of February, I figured it was fitting to recap what I read last month. I set a goal of reading 100 books this year, and even though I only got through 6 in January, I hope to still make that goal!

Monkey Beach by Eden Robinson – ★★★★ – Not quite like anything I’ve read in awhile, Monkey Beach was a thought provoking coming of age story of a young Native American woman. This was my book club’s pick for January.

The Longings of Wayward Girls by Karen Brown (c/o Netgalley) – ★★★ –  This was just an okay read. While I loved the blurb, the overall book was a bit on the slower side for my taste.

Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill – ★★★★ –  As you can read in my full review, I quite enjoyed this fun, contemporary YA novel.

The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty – ★★★★ – The secret was a bit predictable (in fact I didn’t think it could possibly be the secret because it seemed obvious) but this was an engaging read, and a great for audiobook listening.

Broken by Vanessa Skye – ★★★★ – Full review to come in a few weeks!

Invisible by Paul Auster – ★★★ –  A bit disturbing, this was an interesting read with a really bizarre set of events. Recommended for fans of Chuck Palahniuk.

So, what are you reading right now?
