Wantable Style Edit: May 2015

I think you should realize by now that I get kind of excited about these new fashion subscription boxes. Honestly, I know I’m not the target audience (I have no problems shopping for myself…) but I still enjoy seeing what these “stylists” will pick for me. And if you haven’t heard of Wantable yet, they already offer a ton of interesting subscription boxes, like for fitness, makeup, and accessories.

What I find is that the longer you receive them, the better they are about learning your style. I’m hoping the same is true for Wantable’s new Style Edit service. They introduced this in April, and I promptly signed up. However, my first Style Edit was far from impressive. I think the clothing they sent, in concept, is good. The fit and price point? Not a fan.

*Apologies for the wonky lighting in these photos. We’re still working on our remodel, and I have limited space to take tripod shots these days. ;)

I like this, but it’s just too long. I don’t know how much they keep in mind style profiles when “curating” these Edits, but I’d think sending this to a petite, and short torsoed person was a mistake. I would have like this if it weren’t so long.

Wantable Style Edit May 2015: Jack Vintage Rose Jumpsuit / hellorigby seattle fashion blogJack Vintage Rose Jumpsuit in Black Floral, Small $80 – Returned
Out of the box, I loved this! However, when I put it on… the love faded quickly. The waist is not in the right place for me, and it just looked goofy.

Wantable Style Edit May 2015: Jack Crochet Back Top / hellorigby seattle fashion blogJack Crochet Back Top, Small $65 – Returned
I had asked for no sweaters but got this. I was hoping to branch out a bit and away from the sweaters… but apparently that wasn’t in the cards. Technically I suppose this isn’t a sweater, it’s quite thin. It also fit poorly as the sleeves were too long. I do love the back detail, but overall just couldn’t justify the price.

Wantable Style Edit May 2015: BB Dakota Ponte Shift Dress / hellorigby seattle fashion blogBB Dakota Ponte Shift Dress in White, Small $85 – Returned
While I wouldn’t say this fits my style, I thought this was a cute dress. Unfortunately, it had that strange gaping problem at the arm pit that a lot of these tank dresses have on me. To me, it’s not worth the cost of alterations to fix this, so it’s going back.

Wantable Style Edit May 2015: DEX New York Double Strap Tank / hellorigby seattle fashion blogDEX New York Basic Double Strap Tank, Small $25 – Returned
Honestly, this was just so boring that I didn’t see a point in keeping it. Also, $25 for a basic tank seems so expensive to me. I pay $2-3 at Forever 21 for mine, and they last just fine.

If you’re interested in trying this for yourself, I’d love you to sign up with my referral link here. It helps me be able to do these reviews! ;) And just a note, Wantable is also a monthly subscription service. I didn’t realize they auto-bill you, unlike Stitch Fix which you schedule for certain dates. You pay a $20 styling fee, which can be put towards keeping an item from your Edit. I already got a notice that I was billed for June, so I will be giving them one more shot in hopes that they take my comments on what they sent this month to heart.

Have you signed up for Wantable’s Style Edit already, or another similar service? What did you think?

It seems so random that they sent such a basic tank! Such a bummer that nothing from the box worked out- I do love the first top, but am with you on it being a bit (or a lot, haha) too long!

Yeah, I thought so too. I almost felt like they just assumed I would keep it less forfeiting the styling fee. I wish they would have just sent a better option instead! Oh well, we’ll see what next month brings.

$25 for a basic tank top is just ridiculous. unless it has some kind of super power, why would anyone think that was reasonable?

Haha! Seriously. Maybe if it ws made from silk or something… but it wasn’t. Oh well, we’ll see if they do better next month!

I wouldn’t have paid $25 for a tank top, either! The first top is really cute, but I don’t love super long thing either, so I probably would’ve skipped it as well. :)

I’m hoping they step it up for you next month! I’ve tried their beauty box and really liked it, but hadn’t heard of this one yet.

They just launched and this was their very first round of shipment! I’m hopeful next month is better as well!

I usually wear petite sometimes some brands fit well in regular size, that is the only reason I avoid the services.
    That jumpsuit is really cute!

I usually wear petite sizing as well, but usually the services will keep that in mind if they don’t offer petite lines. This one didn’t seem to, which was disappointing. Stitch Fix did launch petite specific sizing if you ever decide you want to try one of these services! :)

Great review! I agree- it is so over priced but I guess it’s fun testing out these pieces! It’s sad that none of these pieces were a keeper! xo

Yeah, I was a little disappointed at the price points based on the quality. Hopefully next month’s is an improvement!

I’m so confused by that black tank top-what’s the point of a styling service if they send you a basic you could pick up at the gap? I hope that your next box is halfway decent!

I’ve actually heard of this- I just haven’t made up my mind if I want to try it or not. It seems like such a great idea. I really need to think about it. :)

Based on other reviews, I would say StitchFix would be a better choice. I’m hopeful that they improve their styling for next month though!

I am always so nervous about signing up for a fashion/styling subscription box. I am really petite as well and there have been a lot of situations where I couldn’t by a top because it was just ridiculously long on me or did not fit right at all. Not to mention that a lot of the outfit reveals I see, the items are rather expensive..

Yeah, honestly I was surprised by the price point of all of these items considering I checked the least expensive option. I’m glad I can be a guinea pig for people who are nervous about signing up for these new clothing subs! ;)
