Semi-Charmed Summer Book Challenge 2014

i’m super excited (and a little late) to join Megan at Semi-Charmed Kind of Life with her summer book challenge! you may remember i joined in with Megan’s challenge last autumn, and completed all but one of my reading goals, so this time around i’m really going to finish.

Here’s what I’ll be reading:

5 points: Freebie! Read any book that is at least 200 pages long.
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde (374 pages) – book club pick for May! Completed 5/21

10 points: Read a book that was written before you were born.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie (264 pages) Finished 6/2

10 points: Finish reading a book you couldn’t finish the first time around.
Bossypants by Tina Fey (277 pages) Completed 5/23
i started this and got through a chapter or two, and for some reason never got back to it. seems like a good time to do that.

10 points: Read a book from the children’s section of the library or bookstore.
The Summer Experiment by Cathie Pelletier (280 pages)

15 points: Read a book that is on the New York Times Best Seller List when you begin reading it.
Perks of Being a Wallflower (Best Sellers – Young Adult) by Stephen Chbosky (213 pages) Completed 5/27

15 points: Read a historical fiction book that does not take place in Europe.
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Steadman (343 pages)
this one is set in Australia ; )

15 points: Read a book another blogger has already read for the challenge.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (279 pages) Finished 6/20
this is a reread for Kristen at See You In a Porridge, so I assume this will do!

20 points: Read a book with “son(s),” “daughter(s)” or “child(ren)” in the title.
The Scavenger’s Daughters by Kay Bratt (230 pages)

20 points: Read a book that was/will be adapted to film in 2014.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner (374 pages) Completed 7/11

25 points: Read a book written by a blogger.
Aureole by Kate Mitchell (334 pages) Completed 6/11
Kate blogs at Kate the (Almost) Great!

25 points: Read a biography, autobiography or memoir.
Uganda be Kidding Me by Chelsea Handler (257 pages) Completed 5/27

30 points: Read a pair of books with antonyms in the titles.
The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Mathieu (208 pages) Completed 6/15
Once Upon a Lie by Maggie Barbieri (304 pages) Completed 7/8

    So many good choices! I originally was going to do the Truth About Alice for the last one- but it’s not available from my library e-book collection so I had to switch it out!
