I try to shoot to get a Stitch Fix every other month, however with two weddings in the next two months, I thought I’d schedule an extra one to see if they could help me out. I absolutely hate special occasion dress shopping. Is it just me or every time you have an event to attend suddenly no stores seem to have your size or any reasonable dress options?! I’ve had this happen with multiple weddings and Christmas parties and it never ceases to frustrate me.

Unfortunately for me, neither dress Stitch Fix sent this month worked out. In fact, I’d say this was my worst fix to date. I liked the idea of the items. However, the fit was terrible on every item I received. The saving grace was the necklace. I already own something almost identical, but lucky for you I still kept it so I wouldn’t lose the styling fee. One of you will be able to win it down below! ;)Stitch Fix September 2015 Review & Styling // hellorigby seattle fashion blog

Stitch Fix September 2015 Review & Styling

Stitch Fix September 2015 Review: Taylor Dante Dress // hellorigby seattle fashion blogTaylor Dante Dress in Black, Size 4, $138 – Returned
I liked the idea of this one, but it ended up being too big, the waist was too low for me. (I’m short waisted as well as petite in stature.) Plus, the horizontal stripes were horribly unflattering on my chest.

Stitch Fix September 2015 Review: Everly Duval Dress in Dark Green // hellorigby seattle fashion blogEverly Duval Dress in Dark Green, Size Small, $78 – Returned
Honestly, I’m taking one for the team on posting this photo, as I think this is the least flattering thing I’ve ever worn. I know, that sounds harsh, but it looked promising until I put it on. It’s like a combination of a bad 80s dress (the sleeves remind me of puff sleeves, and the neckline is just… different) and Mad Men gone wrong. It was too tight in pretty much all the wrong places, so this was obviously a big no.

Stitch Fix September 2015 Review: 41Hawthorn Analia Striped Roll Tab Blouse & Kut from the Kloth Jonathan/Diana Corduroy Skinny in Burgundy // hellorigby seattle fashion blogKut from the Kloth Jonathan (or Diana) Skinny Corduroy in Burgundy, Size 4P, $68 – Returned
I had just pinned something very similar to these onto my fashion Pinterest board. Sadly, these were too big in the waist, knees, and weren’t as skinny as I like jeans to be at the ankles.

41Hawthorn Analia Roll Tab Blouse in Black & White, Size Small, $38 – Returned
I wanted to like this, but it felt a little too jailhouse for me. It was also too tight across the bust.

Stitch Fix September 2015 Review: Bay to Baubles Missie Hammered Bar Necklace in Gold // hellorigby seattle fashion blogBay to Baubles Missie Hammered Bar Necklace in Gold, $28 – Kept
This is such a cute necklace. Unfortunately (or fortunately for one of you!) I already own something very similar from Gorjana. For that reason, I kept this and decided to give it away! Enter below if you think you’d like to own it. :)

I’d really like to try Stitch Fix–I like the idea of it–but I have such odd sizing issues that I’m afraid nothing they send would fit! It’s bad enough when I have that issue at the mall, I think paying for a subscription box and dealing with it would just really break my heart. :P

It’s funny that that Everly dress didn’t fit, because it doesn’t look half bad in the photo!

Thanks Martha, glad it doesn’t look too terrible! I feel you on the sizing issue. I seem to have that same issue both at the mall and in subscription boxes!

I haven’t tried Stitch Fix because I feel like the clothing they send me would be out of my budget. I don’t go shopping very often so a monthly box would either be awesome or get me in trouble with my husband! ;)

ugh that sucks that it was such a let down! that green dress, at first glance, is pretty.. but then you’re right – like mad men gone wrong. hope you find something suitable!

I have not tried Stitch Fix, I have been worried that my sizes are so weird that things wouldn’t fit me and it would be a waste :(

I like the Everly dress, particular the cut of the neckline, but those sleeves… No. Potential for sure with alterations MAYBE.. Lol and that first dress does nothing for you. Good call, no stitch fix magic dress. I feel the exact same as you for shopping in general. I have quads but a slim waist. Tops, I have almost a swimmers back and with lifting weights, that’s always questionable with anything too related and fit… I think with my body type is end up returning everything every month, that’s why I don’t bother subscribing…

Give Rigby some love for moi. Xo

Ha, yeah, it has potential but I feel like for alterations I would need to start with a bigger size, and at that point it could get pretty costly. Oh well, but will definitely give Rigby a snuggle for you! ;)

I’ve never tried StitchFix. I guess it’s because I like to personally choose every item I purchase myself. Maybe it’s from flashbacks of people picking out outfits for me as gifts as a teen (and feeling like I had to fake liking the item )…
I need to get over this & give it a try!!

Ha! I know what you mean. I thought the same thing at first, but so many people seem to enjoy the reviews and seeing what I get that I keep getting them. Most of the time that I keep something, it’s something I’ve pinned to my Pinterest style board. ;)

I have a love/hate relationship with Stitch Fix. I love getting them, and then get angry that I only find 1-2 pieces to keep. But, I’m still waiting for my “keep everything” box!

Haha, I know what you mean! I did read somewhere that they aim to only have you keep 1-2 items per box so that may explain why it’s so rare to keep an entire fix!

I’ve received 4 Fixes so far! Love Stitch Fix!! My favorite item I received was a pair of Kut From the Kloth skinny jeans. I wear them all the time. They are by far my favorite pair of jeans!

I agree, too bad about the green dress because in theory it is nice. And I know you think that particular dress is unflattering but a fitted dress with similar retro styling would look really good on you. And I 100% agree, it’s impossible to find a fancy dress when you need one. Good luck on your search!

I would love to find retro fitted dresses… my problem seems to be that I can never get one that fits correctly so it just looks wonky, like this one! Thanks for the luck, Julia, and it was fun seeing you Saturday!

This fix screams “I know you said you’re petite and busty, but I just don’t care! ” it’s like when I said I’m chubby in the middle and they sent me all this clingy stuff. I would love it if they paired you up with a stylist with a similar body shape, or at least got the opinion of someone who did. Before sending. Such a let down.

I haven’t ordered a fix in awhile, but seriously need some new fall clothes. Try a shopping moratorium until I go to NYC next month, but I’m getting antsy!

LOL yes, my thoughts exactly, Kristan! It is honestly my number one gripe with every service I have tried. I think pairing you with a similar body shape is an excellent idea, as it seems like Stitch Fix is a large enough company now to support something like that! Jealous of your NYC trip – hope you get lots of shopping in while you’re there! ;)

I haven’t tried Stitch Fix yet. I think it’s because I see so many reviews that people send things back. It sounds really fun but I don’t want to send things back all of the time. Thank-you for the generous chance on this gorgeous necklace. :)

You’re so welcome, Natalie, and I know what you mean! The goal of Stitch Fix seems to be to have you love 1-2 items in every Fix, so they make it easy to just pop what didn’t work back into the mail. (It comes with a pre-labeled mailer bag to drop in the mailbox.)

I haven’t tried it yet, I’ve been hesitating. It seems like some people luck out and really match up with their perfect stylist, while others end up with a stylist who seems to ignore client feedback. I’m also a little afraid for my wallet if I try it and end up loving everything. :-)

That is true, it does seem like you have to find a great stylist to be successful. I really like mine, but sometimes even then it’s not 100% perfect!

I totally know what you mean. I often feel the same way, but I will admit some of the pieces I have kept I have worn more than a lot of other items I own!
