So, my first Birchbox experience was an interesting one. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my first box, but it had a bit of an “oops” in transit.
I sent them an email with a suggestion to ship liquids in plastic bags & to tape the cap closed, but they apologized and sent me a new box. Birchbox CS to the rescue!
So here’s my first box:
First Box Details:
Ruffian Nail Lacquer in Hedge Fund (Full Size) -Army green/camo is trendy again so I was excited to get the green color! This is green shimmer, and since I have a few compatible colors I’m going to try a few different looks. (Value: $10 via Birchbox Shop)
Here’s Ruffian Hedge Fund Ruffian in action on the tips & accent nail with Sephora x OPI Caught with my Khakis Down
Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm – So obviously, I’m using this on my lips since I have no reason to use it elsewhere. I like it, but I don’t feel like it’s rocking my world. I will finish the sample, but I doubt I’d pay $15 for the full size. (Value: ~$3 via Birchbox Shop)
Davines Sea Salt Spray – It’s crying in the photo. Poor sea salt spray. But really, I love this. It smells like toasted marshmallows and it keeps away frizz, yet still gives me a bit of texture. I wouldn’t say this gives me those magical beachy waves that come naturally to some, but more of a tousled-just-rolled-out-of-bed look. (Value: ~$10.80 via Birchbox Shop)
Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara (Full size) – I have mixed feelings about this. I mostly like it, but I find it makes my lashes stick together and has some fall out by day’s end. The color is good, and it definitely makes my lashes stand out more, even though they’re already pretty dark & long. Its a like, not a love. (Value: $20 via Birchbox Shop)
Malin & Goetz Facial Moisturizer Sample Packets (2 ct) – I have yet to try these, but I’m sure they’re great so long as they don’t break me out! (Value: ~$1)
And here’s the second box:
Second Box Details:
Davines Sea Salt Spray – (Repeat warning!) Love this.
Le Couvent des Minimes Gardener’s Hand Healer – I haven’t tried this yet, but I am looking forward to putting it on my desk at work to keep my dry fall/winter hands at bay! (Value: ~$3 via Birchbox Shop)
Ruffian Nail Lacquer in Fox Hunt (Full Size) – Since I just got this box on Thursday, I haven’t swatched this yet, however I’m really loving the bright orangey-red hue! Perfect for fall. (Value $10 via Birchbox Shop)
Grand Central Beauty SMART Skin Perfecting Polisher – This isn’t something I would think to buy, so I’m curious to try it. Seems like the reviews are hit or miss so I’m not expecting a miracle. ;) (Value ~$7.60 via Birchbox Shop)
GlamNatural Cream Blush Packets (3 ct) – I’m pretty pale, so I may skip this as a “blush” and apply it for lip color. I like barely-there blushes so I think this product as it was intended may be a pass for me. (Value ~$1)
So, that’s a wrap.
I really loved my first box. It was perfect. The second box was great too, I loved that I got a different nail polish color & more of the sea salt spray that I loved. I’m glad my “real” box was more my style though.
Thanks to Birchbox for their awesome customer service & sending me a replacement box. It was really sweet of you & I can’t wait for October’s box!
