Salish Lodge & Stripes

Last weekend, Dave took me to Salish Lodge and Spa in Snoqualmie for a little weekend getaway. I’ve mentioned it before, but generally we prefer “experience” gifts, and we always try to plan something for each other for birthdays. (Like when we went to Lummi Island last summer for Dave’s.)

If you’re not from the area, Snoqualmie is a small mountain town. It’s beautiful – lots of greenery, fresh air, and water. From our room you could even see a peek of Snoqualmie Falls, and a few steps (okay, maybe a few hundred… but you get the point) from the front door of the Lodge and you can see the full thing.

Gorgeous right? There’s something really special about living in Washington.

Anyways, because I’m an opportunist, I knew we would have the opportunity to take a few outfit shots. I packed some outfits that I’ve been wanting to post that I’ve worn off and on throughout fall and winter (since let’s be real, we barely had a real winter here this year… it’s been in the high 40s and 50s mostly. Winter that is not.) Unfortunately what I didn’t realize is how crowded this particular place would be, and with the light being so strong, I had to choose some not so optimal shooting locations. Style blogger problems, for real.

I picked up this striped top from ZebraClub.com a few months ago with a gift card I won in their Instagram launch contest, and this short trench coat is one of my absolute favorite pieces (I also own it in black, last worn here.) Since I’m vertically challenged, the short length of this coat is great because it doesn’t accentuate how tall I am not, and I absolutely love that it has a hood. I mean, I live in Seattle, and we do get a lot of rain, sometimes without notice.

I’m not one to go for animal prints (okay, except maybe my animal print scarf…), but for some reason I fell for these animal print smoking flats a couple of seasons ago. I guess what I like is little pops of animal prints – shoes, belts, scarves. Prevents it from becoming tacky or cheap looking, in my humble opinion.

I love this outfit, especially the shoes! Oh the shoes. I am a sucker for leopard print. I feel like I need some leopard print flats in my life right away.

It looks like a beautiful place and looks like you had a great time :)

It looks beautiful there and you look great! Love that outfit! I’m a big fan of stripes and leopard together too. My husband and I just planned a little vacation getaway in May and I can’t wait. I’m super excited and a bit nervous. This is going to be our first vacation without our daughter…and our first night away from her ever. lol!

Love your stripes paired with a pop of animal print, though! So cute.

Ooh, I went to Lummi Island for my birthday a few years back. We had a really cool experience and spent an evening with a winemaker at his house. But yeah, other than, it’s a slow paced place with an amazing restaurant. :)

You definitely should! It is very pretty and it’s basically already spring here so no snow, but no high heat either! ;)

you’re too cute. sometimes I think “oh I could style myself, Jenn makes it look so easy + adorable all the time!” then I put on four different shades of navy because I can’t commit. I have lots of weekend trips coming up this spring + summer so I plan on trying to dress myself like an adult….

I love that outfit! I was just at Kohl’s with my mom and she kept picking up all the Lauren Conrad stuff, which is pretty, but way too dressy for my life, and telling me to try it on. I was like, well, if it wasn’t from the Cinderella collection…
Those jeggings are very flattering! And the waterfall is beautiful!

LOL! Her Cinderella collection is cute but totally not my style either. I’m way more likely to wear jeans than a dress on a daily basis. I love her jeggings though, so comfortable! Thanks, Sarah!

Such a great outfit! That trench coat is the perfect lenght for you! And those smoking shoes are cute. I love pops of animal print too but not big accessories. The shoes are the perfect amount!

I’m the same as you where I’ve never been big on animal print, but lately I have been finding myself drawn to it in pops of accessories. I blame it on the blogosphere ;)

Haha, probably! I bought these shoes (and my scarf from the other post) pre-blog so apparently I’ve never been that anti-animal print! :P
