There’s nothing scarier than putting yourself on the internet. Wait, I take that back. There’s nothing scarier than putting yourself out there on the internet AND posing in a swimsuit while doing that.

What I’m Wearing
Swimsuit: Peplum Umbrellas One-Piece, c/o Lime Ricki Swimwear
Fringe Kimono: Lilly Pulitzer for Target
Flare Leg Jeans: Forever 21
Shoes: Target (similar)
Hat: Forever 21 (similar)
Sunglasses: LC Lauren Conrad Gladstones

I’ve talked before about being not skinny and not fat and being okay with that. And I am. I’m not ashamed of my size; I am not overweight and I am not underweight. I’m average. It’s fine. Honestly.

But as much as I appreciate my body and all of the great things it does for me every day, I still will never feel 100% confident or comfortable in a swimsuit. I can’t help but revert back to my teen years when self-confidence often wavered. And when I was in my teens, I definitely was shaped a little differently. I didn’t know how much that body could change in 10+ years. And that’s not a bad thing – it’s just a different thing.

And some of that is tied to the way my chest fits (or in most cases doesn’t fit) into your average swimsuit. I’d even venture a guess that some of that fear and body confidence issues with swimsuits specifically comes from an incident in a pool way back in middle school. My PE class would walk over to the high school next door once a year in the spring for the swim unit. I was a developing young lady and thought it’d be a good idea to wear one of my mom’s bikinis from the 70s (that were super cool, btw) to school for our free swim day. I had been a part of swim team for a few years at this point, so I was a very skilled swimmer and diver. When we had free swim we also had open access to the diving board, I thought it was a great idea to show off. I’ll let you fill in the details about what happened that fateful day.

Lime Ricki Swimwear Modest Peplum Swimsuit Review, Coupon, and Giveaway / hellorigby seattle fashion blog

Needless to say, my “wardrobe malfunction” probably scarred me for life and forever have I made sure I’m 100% strapped in up top. In more recent years, I’ve found it harder and harder to find anything that fits. I rely on one bandeau style top and a few one pieces I’ve found over the years, but was thrilled to find out about Lime Ricki Swimwear, who offer beautiful swimsuits that actually hold things in place.

And even if you don’t need that kind of support, that’s okay too because they offer plenty of other seriously styling swim options, especially if you’re a fan of the vintage or retro look. The fabrics and prints are so much fun, and perfect for summer. They also carry a wide range of sizes, from XS-XXL (00-20).  Even better, Lime Ricki Swimwear has generously offered one swimsuit to one lucky winner (in the US only, sorry international friends!) Even if you don’t win, you can use code “HELLORIGBY” for 15% off through May 17!

I like a lot of them but I think I would get the Convertible Strap Umbrella Tankini Top and the Ruffle Wrap Cornflower Skirt w/ Bottom.

I have the not skinny/not fat body type too. I really love the Convertible Strap hibiscus eyelet tankini. I have a similar one from target, and it’s one of the few types of bathing suits I feel okay in public in! thanks for the chance for a great giveaway! ;)

I don’t think I’ve ever had a swimsuit malfunction but I definitely think swimwear comes with major anxiety. I think it’s awesome that Lime Ricki has swim tops that look exactly like my sports bras, that’s kinda perfect. And the rash guards are so cute! Thanks for sharing, Jenn. :)

LOL I may be old but I still love my bikinis. I will only wear a halter style top and I like a full bottom. I figure if the dude that camps beside us who is 60 or more and wears a speedo and a tank to cut wood all day, I can wear a two piece suit. BUT now with the lupus I am not supposed to be in the sun. I love the sun and summer and the beach ….

I am loving the little peplum detail on this swimsuit! I’m so glad that you shared info on Lime Ricki, because I also struggle finding swimsuits that fit! (I have the opposite problem – nothing on top.) I have melanoma scars on my bicep and arm pit, and they have the most affordable swim shirts I have seen! I also love the Double Ruffle Navy one piece.

Thanks for opening my eyes to an awesome new brand!

You are so cute! I love your “Not Fat but Not Skinny” post because i can relate…even though I am a bit chubbier than you but still not clinically “overweight.” It is a struggle, even though it shouldn’t be! It does play with your mind.

But you are ADORABLE! And I love the outfit. xx

I still have issues with my bathing suit tops not wanting to stay in place. I like tankinis best for that reason. They seem to stay in place better than a bikini top. I can’t wear a one-piece because I have a short torso, so none of them fit right.

I’m sure the vast majority of women don’t feel comfortable in a swim suit. I don’t, and I have no real reason not to. I just feel so exposed.

One of the things I will miss now that I’m moved up to the PacNW is swimming. I get cold so easy when I’m wet that I can guarantee I will not be visiting any pools or the one waterpark.

I totally feel you on the short torso problem – I do as well and have found it challenging to find a one piece! These are definitely cut much better for me than any other one piece I’ve tried before.

Aw, that’s a bummer – the water is really cold here so unless it’s a hot tub I prefer to stay dry too these days! ;)

My favorite is their Convertible Strap Umbrella Tankini Top with the matching green bottom. Due to my weight-loss, I so need a new swim suit for this Summer. Thank-you for this super fun chance. :)

I have been eyeing the Convertible Strap Unbrella Tankini Top with the Ruffle Wrap Seafoam skirt! Though, I’m torn between that one and the Double Strap Navy Tankini Top with the Swim Short umbrellas! So cute!

I prefer a bikini, and am totally in love with the newly resurfaced high-waisted styles. That is definitely an area of concern for me, and I am happy that different styles that flatter different bodies are becoming popular again.

Oh my goodness! I definitely feel for you! When I was younger, I was in gymnastics. I learned how to do a round-off back-handspring, and the next day, I tried to show off at the bus stop. Too bad I landed on my head. Definitely not the same caliber as yours though. I also like to stay strapped in. I’m a bikini wearer, but not with just string ties. I can’t go strapless though. I don’t trust my bathing suit to stay on.

I always feel most secure in a tankini! Partially because most of my pool days are spent nannying, I never feel like I am revealing too much, it’s great!
