Green(ish) Smoothies with Pure Earth Juice

Sponsored Post: I am being compensated by Linqia in partnership with Pure Earth Juice for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed an onslaught of smoothie photos recently. I had a few on vacation and basically got addicted (again). Smoothies used to be my snack of choice after class in high school. I would come home and experiment with all sorts of recipes. My favorite was chocolate peanut butter and frozen yogurt smoothies, but I also liked trying my hand at mixing and matching fruit flavors.

These days, I try to pick smoothies that incorporate veggies too. With the recent kale fad, I’ve definitely had my fair share of super dark, green smoothies… but I’ve never made these at home. When Del Monte reached out and asked if I’d fit their new juice products into my morning routine I couldn’t say no.  It just made perfect sense – it gave me an excuse to craft up all sorts of new smoothie recipes AND would help me get back on track to eating healthy. Vacations are good at derailing that. I also decided it was as good of a time as any to ditch our old blender and get a new one. What can I say, any excuse to shop.

I’m starting small; for these, I grabbed a bag of spinach, some new Del Monte Pure Earth Juice, and some other goodies and made a couple of batches that shouldn’t scare those who have yet to jump into the green smoothie fad. These are just greenish. ;)

Avocado Peach Green Smoothie

Ingredients

1/2 an avocado
1/2 a banana
1/2 an apple
1 handful of spinach (about one cup loosely packed)
1 handful of frozen peaches or nectarines (Make sure these are ripe! I bought frozen peaches that ended up being sour. Barf!)
2 heaping Tbsp Greek Yogurt (optional)
1 tsp Flax Seed (optional)
1/2 cup Del Monte Pure Earth Juice in Banana, Coconut, & Pineapple flavor, chilled

Directions

Cut larger fruit items into wedges. Add ingredients to blender, blend until smooth. Serves 1.

Blueberry Banana “Green” Smoothie

Ingredients

1/2 a banana
1/2 an apple
3/4 cup frozen blueberries
1 handful of spinach (about a cup loosely packed)
2 heaping Tbsp Greek Yogurt (optional)
1 tsp Flax Seed (optional)
1/3 cup Del Monte Pure Earth Juice in Blueberry, Blackberry, & Pineapple flavor, chilled

Directions

Cut larger fruit items into wedges. Add ingredients to blender, blend until smooth. Serves 1.

I had a little oops with the first round of Avocado Peach smoothies.. apparently the bag of frozen peaches I bought were all unripe! So gross. So, I took the photos while I had daylight, ran to the store and bought more avocados and peaches just to make sure the recipe I came up with wouldn’t taste terrible. Luckily, it didn’t, and now Dave and I have enough leftover to take to work tomorrow morning. It was a win-win after all.

To get you started on trying your hand at these recipes, Del Monte is offering a $1 off coupon for their new Pure Earth Juice products. I highly recommend the juice – it’s just straight up fruit juice and is ridiculously addictive. I have to stop myself from drinking the entire bottle at once. It’s like candy, but healthier.

It’s definitely a different texture than your standard smoothie – very thick and creamy, almost like a milkshake. It’s good, but you definitely need to use sweet, ripe peaches otherwise the avocado and banana flavors may overwhelm!

Yum, that sounds super good! I’ll have to get brave and get some kale for smoothies next! I’ve never made them at home with kale!

I was skeptical too… it just sounded weird, especially kale! But I’m definitely a fan and they do taste much better than you’d think! :)

This is maybe the 3rd or 4th blog post I’ve seen about this juice and they have all been great reviews! That means I need to try it; I love smoothies in the morning. Your recipe is the best one I’ve seen yet, so when I’m at the store next, I’ll be grabbing these ingredients! Thanks for sharing!

It’s super good, the two I used were my favorites of the bunch. (They have two more flavors Pineapple Lime and just plain Pineapple) I will definitely be buying more for smoothie-making! :)

That blueberry banana smoothie sounds AMAZING right now! Smoothies are my FAVORITE thing ever! My favorite combos are blueberry, strawberry an raspberry (basically an all berry one!) <3

Yum, love berries too! I also made one with spinach and strawberries that was good, but it wasn’t as pretty as these… red + green mixed is kind of yuck looking, haha! ;)

Oh my gosh that looks awesome. And just so nutritious. I’m trying to work on eating more nutrients right now — not necessarily clean eating, but a variety of good-for-you things.

    Is that the adult term?

Now, if I can just get up earlier, I can make these.

I definitely can’t do strictly clean either, but I don’t feel so bad when I have a smoothie for breakfast. I know what you mean about the getting up earlier thing… I meant to make more this morning, but sleep got the best of me!

Super creamy and very thick. If you use avocado in place of something in another recipe, I recommend doubling the liquid you would normally use!

What great smoothie varieties!! I am so saving these for later. Since we have smoothie or juicing juice each weekday morning.
My husband and I went “bad” on ours and made an adult beverage with them.

Haha, I think that’s totally understandable every once in awhile… I could definitely see making a tasty cocktail with some of these juices!

Me too, I absolutely love the creaminess that avocado adds and the sweetness of peaches. You’ll have to let me know if you try it! :)

Oh yum – I have just re-discovered smoothies this last month and am going through a proper face, so have been on the lookout for new flavour combinations to try!(I have tended to stick with banana / blueberry / oats which is delicious, but at the same time, I would like to try something different!
