DailyLook Elite Box March 2015

Apparently I’ve been on a clothing subscription kick, as I just received my very first DailyLook Elite Box. I found out about this in one of my the private Fashion Facebook groups, and I signed up as a guinea pig because 1. DailyLook had offered a free 3-month trial, and 2. I was curious. I can’t help it – I love being surprised and I always enjoy trying new things even if they don’t work out.

DailyLook is very similar to Stitch Fix. You sign up, fill out a style profile, and schedule your shipment. You’re then assigned a stylist, but unlike Stitch Fix, you’re encouraged to email them and communicate your likes and dislikes, and if you have any specific events coming up. I figured I’d let my stylist, Augustine, do her thing and give more specific feedback after I received my first box as to what I’d like to see next.

And of course, because I love to share the shopping fun, I shot photos of my first experience! I’m planning on documenting those as well unless no one likes these sorts of posts, in which case, please let me know. It won’t hurt my feelings, promise. ;)

DailyLook Elite Box Review – March 2015

DailyLook Elite Box - Halter Ruffle Top in Black - hellorigby seattle fashion blog

Halter Ruffle Top in Black, $26.95 – Oh no. I would never wear this, it looks horrible on my body type, and just… nope.

DailyLook Elite Box - Sleeveless Tiered Knit Tunic in White - hellorigby seattle fashion blogDailyLook Elite Box - Sleeveless Tiered Knit Tunic in White - hellorigby seattle fashion blog

Sleeveless Tiered Knit Tunic in White, $26.95 – For the price, I actually liked this top. No, it’s not the most flattering in the world, but it’s easy enough to dress up or down, especially in the warmer months. My problems with it were two-fold: the sheerness makes it impractical and the material type was way too wrinkly.

DailyLook Elite Box K-Stew Ribbed Cardigan in Terracotta - hellorigby seattle fashion blog

DailyLook K-Stew Ribbed Cardigan in Terracotta, $45.99 – The material on this was nice and I liked the color. Everything else? Not so much. Way too long, looked like a Batman cape, etc.

DailyLook Elite Box Striped Bandage Bell Skirt in Neon Coral - hellorigby seattle fashion blog

DailyLook Striped Bandage Bell Skirt in Neon Coral, $24.95 – Well, you could definitely see my butt, and I’m not a neon fan. I felt like I belonged in Candy Land. I also tried pulling it down, but that just look ridiculous. Plus it smelled strongly of glue/chemicals. Fail.

DailyLook Elite Box James Deen Knit Sweater in Beige - hellorigby seattle fashion blog

James Deen Knit Sweater in Beige, $49.99 – This wasn’t bad, but it was just boring. I have a similar colored sweater that’s a similar length. I just didn’t need another one, and I thought the price seemed high for the (not amazing) quality.

DailyLook Elite Box Tua Colorful Mixed Print Maxi Dress - hellorigby seattle fashion blog

Tua Colorful Mixed Print Maxi Dress in Multi, $59.99 – I really liked this. The print is a little crazy, but the colors are good and the length was perfect with my “test” wedges. I was bummed to send this back, but sadly it was just too tight in the chest and across the back. :(

DailyLook Elite Box Plunging Fit and Flare Knit Dress in Royal Blue - hellorigby seattle fashion blog

DailyLook Plunging Fit and Flare Knit Dress in Royal Blue, $52.95 – I love the color and concept of this… but something went horribly wrong when I put it on. It was too short and way too tight across the bust. I thought I was going to pop a seam. Yikes.

DailyLook Elite Box - The Fifth Label See Saw T-Shirt Daisy Print Dress in Black - hellorigby seattle fashion blog

The Fifth Label See Saw Large Daisy Print Dress in Black, $82.99 – Cute print, but clearly oversized prints just don’t work for me. Shift dresses aren’t very flattering on me either, even if I do love them.

All totaled, this box was $370.76 for 8 items. And I kept nothing. I sent it all back and have left quite a few comments regarding fit and types of items I do/don’t like. Specifically, I am asking for items that are cut more generously in the chest, and don’t highlight cleavage.

Unlike StitchFix, there is no discount incentive to keep your entire box, but you can apply coupon codes for DailyLook onto purchases you make from your box. They also have a points rewards program for making other purchases on their website that you can apply. I also received $5 credit just for signing up that I used to buy a cute scarf.

I’m definitely glad that I got to try this for free, otherwise I think I would have been quite disappointed. I’m hopeful that my next box, with my additional feedback, will be much better! If you want to sign up and try your first 3 months for free, you can sign up with my referral link. (And thank you, if you do!)

What do you think? Is there a hidden gem in there you think I missed or was it a big fail? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! :)

If I may, I think these three pieces looked good on you!

Haha, of course you can! Thanks Jae! I definitely didn’t dislike the sweater, it just was very similar in color and fit to one I already have.

Hmm, I don’t think I’d like any of those pieces much! The long dress did look nice on you – it’s a shame about the cut. I think I’d find it a bit disheartening to be excited to receive a big box of clothes, but then not want to keep any of them!! Hope the next box is much more successful for you. xxx

I’m going to have to agree with you, I think. I wasn’t too crazy about any of those pieces on you. I loved the color of that blue dress but it was a bit short and I know I can’t do super short dresses either. I think the only one I could picture you wearing would be that maxi dress at the end. That one seemed more your style. I laughed a little at the neon skirt because I could tell by the picture how much you didn’t like it.

Oh I know, that mini skirt was just awful. I agree – the blue color was great, but the cut of the dress was not good. Hopefully they will have something similar to the maxi dress next time!

So I’ve been getting the Daily Look Elite box twice so far. The first month was a wash. I kept one item, loved another one but was too small. The second month they nailed it! They even resent the dress I loved back in a larger size. Which I thought was really great of them. I have my 3rd one coming in a week and not sure what I’m getting or if I’ll continue after this month since I did the first 3 month free trial thing. But we’ll see. I did love that Maxi on you. Did you input your style icons in your profile? I think it helped them with what I wanted and adding my instagram so they could see what I usually wear.

Oh that’s good to know! I’m hopeful they will nail it next month, the price points on most of the items are great. I did input my style icons and my Instagram. I said Olivia Palermo, Lauren Conrad, and Emma Stone. I think they were on the right track, just not quite the right fit.

I just got this months box today and asked for vacation clothes for next month and they nailed it. It definitely gets better as it goes on.

Oof, yeah, that maxi print dress is cute but everything else, not so much. I know I would have been disappointed, even if it had been free! Based on your selection, I might hold out to see what your next box looks like before trying… besides, I probably can’t afford more than one clothing box a month, haha.

Haha, sounds good to me! The good news is that that majority of the stuff was under $30, which makes it a lot more competitive than Stitch Fix. I’m still getting both, only with the intention of keeping a piece or two.

I loved the long maxi dress on you! Sad it wasn’t a perfect fix. I’m totally signing up, because now that I’m leaving my job at the motorsports dealership, I can finally wear clothes that aren’t motorcross jerseys and I need new clothes badly! Thanks for the info, girl!

I’m with you… I don’t love any of these pieces either. Fingers crossed that there are better pieces in the next box! The 3-month trial is appealing but I might wait to see if your next box is more successful before giving it a try.

Sounds good – it sounds like you’re not the only one holding out to see what I get next. I’ll be sure to post it, I’m hoping it’s better too because I think they have some great stuff! :)

Well since it’s free I signed up but from the items they sent you I don’t have much confidence. Bummer you didn’t get a better box! But like you said, it’s free so you weren’t too annoyed. Good luck on the next one!

Haha, I can’t blame you Jacquelyn! I hope your first box is better – I think leaving them comments may be the key (which admittedly I didn’t do the first time… for experimental purposes :P)

I would live in that cardi around the house in the winter months! I’m always freezing and my bathrobe just isn’t as stylish, lol. But I wouldn’t wear it out of the house. Some of the other items were sort of cute in theory, but not in fit, like that striped skirt–I’d be scared of a breeze coming up! If it was longer it might be a different story. :P

Haha! It definitely is a little bathrobe-esque. I could see a taller person pulling it off but I thought it just looked weird on me.

I love a lot of the ideas, but you were right to send them all back. Since it’s free right now, I might do this! Can’t hurt, even if I just send it all back, right?

Totally! I say go for it. Nothing to lose, and I think they were on the right track, just some fit issues due to my body type.

That maxi dress is really pretty, but I feel like a lot of the other stuff you got is… odd. I would probably keep the cardigan, but only end up wearing it around the house, lol. It’s a bit bathrobe-esque.

Haha, someone else compared it to that too and I totally see it. I may have been running around with it flying out the back like a cape… :P

I love your pose in that neon skirt! I can see why you didn’t keep those, but with no styling fee for a few months, I might just have to try it out! I like to get pretty clothes and pretend like I’m going to wear them somewhere fun hahaha

Haha, thanks Sarah! That’s pretty much how I felt about it. I took a photo from behind and it’s seriously right below my butt cheeks. Eek. Hope your first box is better than mine! ;)

Hello! I have been on a subscription kick box too! But for DIY box stuff. I’m addicted to crafts! I’ve heard of stitch fix but I didn’t give it a thought too much since I shop a lot from modcloth and zara, I’ve nailed my size and style with them. BUT, now I’m totally intrigued with Style look ;) You always have the BEST tips! Then, about the clothes they sent you, in my humble opinion, they are just OK> I would have returned everything, and maybe kept the blue dress. You look adorable in it!

Thanks Ursula! Subscription boxes are quite fun (and addictive!) It was definitely fun trying out DailyLook – I think you’re right, everything was just okay. I’m hopeful that they’ll send me some better pieces next time! :)

I have to say–I think the black ruffled top is adorable on you! :) My favorite piece was the patterned maxi dress because I love crazy prints. But you were totally right to send the rest back–those were some strange choices (that hot pink striped skirt?!?! What is that?!?!). :)

Thanks Natalie! Haha, I felt the same way on the striped skirt – so wrong! Crossing my fingers they send something similar to the maxi next month!

This is the first time I’ve heard of this box and you have such a great review, such a bummer none of the items worked out for you– that wrap maxi dress is SO pretty and I actually really love the long cardigan– if it was quite a bit shorter. I can’t wait to see what turns up in your next box- hopefully there are a few winners in it.

Agreed – the cardigan was great but far too long. The material was nice and soft too, reminded me of some of the more expensive Splendid cardigans. I’m hopeful to see that maxi (or something similar!) in my next box. Glad you liked the review, Carly! :)

I loved that maxi dress on you. What a shame about the cut. I have a similar dress issue in my life right now. It’s a real bummer.

I’m not feeling that white see through tunic either. Honestly, it reminds me of something you’d get at KMart for $5 and well, I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for.

I really like the knit sweater but it’s useless if you have something similar already.

Overall, I wasn’t feeling it on these pieces. What a shame. :(

Haha, that’s totally valid on the tank – the material was definitely not great and while I liked the concept, it wasn’t worth it. Fingers crossed my next box is better! :)

Oh no, that’s a bummer! I ordered it back at the beginning of February and set a date to receive it in the future, to February 27th. It arrived the next day, I believe! They sent confirmation of the order and then a shipping notification. I would check your account and see if the date was set for your first shipment!
