While I’m no competition for some of the gorgeous (and wacky) gowns from last night’s Met Gala, I’d have to say that I was pretty pleased with my first black jumpsuit outfit. As a vertically challenged and short-waisted person, it’s been difficult to find one that worked. Many that I loved were to hit the waistline of a normal person or were just far too long. It’s one of those things that if I had loved it enough, I probably could have had it taken in by a tailor. But, then I’d have to find a tailor and hope they didn’t screw it up. Though if anyone has a recommendation for one in the greater Seattle area maybe I’d consider this more often. ;)

I picked this jumpsuit up last month from Sears of all places, and I’m now obsessed. It’s so comfortable, and the elasticized ankles make it work for petite or average heights alike. Personally I’m not a huge fan of showing off the elastic part, so I pull it up and fold over the extra material. Pulling it up a little higher also allows me to show off these fun Steve Madden Marlinn heels from Rack Room Shoes. To contrast the amount of black, I grabbed my trusty white knit blazer I bought in high school (yes, really) from Forever 21.

You may recall Rack Room Shoes the last a few posts I’ve done with them this spring, like this pop of color heel and these comfy athletic shoes. Rack Room Shoes has all sorts of different trendy styles, and they’re always at great prices. These Steve Maddens, for instance, are on sale for less than $50, and combine that with their rewards program plus their everyday BOGO promo and you’ve snagged a deal.

And if you’ll believe me, these 4.5″ heels aren’t even that uncomfortable. My arches seem to be the first to scream in pain and I wasn’t noticing that with these. Granted walking in 4.5″ heels is no walk in the park (ha, see what I did there) but no pain no gain right?

Oh and a Happy Cinco de Mayo for those of you celebrating! I hope you’re able to treat yourself to a Margarita or Sangria, some Chips & Guac, and get your party on. Or just sit at home and marathon Grey’s Anatomy with all of the above, like I plan on doing with my boys. Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy yourself!

Aw, thanks Olya! It’s the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Hefty Hibiscus. I can’t recommend it enough if you haven’t tried them! So moisturizing and the color selection is great.

Cute Jumpsuit, I’ve always wanted to try one but have been too afraid to. Lol I’m so oddly shaped, tall but my legs can look chunky with certain pants because I have muscle-y quads.
The pop of color in your heels is perfect! :)

Cute! I hope jumpsuits aren’t actually replacing maxi dresses because I just joined the maxi dress trend like last month! At 5’2″ jumpsuits really scare me. In fact, anything that’s one piece or long scares me. It’s so hard to style petites. :(

Haha, based on how many I’ve seen this year I don’t think that should be a problem! I’m definitely still loving maxis too. If it makes you feel better, I’m 5’2.5″ (yes, half inches count…:P) so it’s definitely possible! I found looking for a tapered leg and the elastic at the ankle fit the best in length. The struggle I had was up top because most are not made for shorter waists. This one was drapey enough that I felt it worked. :)

Thanks Kristen! I know what you mean – I seriously have tried so many that looked so promising… and then were just huge fails. I’m glad I finally found one that worked and hope you can find one too!

For the longest time I thought because of my body shape and height, I couldn’t pull of jumpsuits. They all looked terrible and ridiculous on me. Then, I stumbled upon one and somehow it just worked. Now it’s one of my go-to things to rock because I can dress it up and down. Plus it’s so easy to wear because all I have to do is figure out how I’m going to accessorize it instead of figuring out an entire outfit.

I was beginning to think that too until I saw someone trying on this style in a different print on Instagram and I blindly ordered it online. I ordered a few others because I was convinced it couldn’t possibly work for me and then it did. Seriously, it’s such a great closet staple like you said!

You look so cute! I love those bright shoes with the monochromatic outfit! So cute! I still haven’t tried the jumpsuit/romper trend yet. I keep worrying that I’m too tall and that it will ride up. LOL

Thanks Julie! I think jumpsuits work great on taller people! I think it’s just about finding the right cut so it doesn’t ride up. Rompers are great too – another thing I have tried and struggled with finding the perfect fit!
