Bellingham Adventures

Our adventures on Lummi Island concluded Monday morning, and we ferried ourselves back over to the main land. More on that on Friday, because I have some outfit shots to share, but needless to say, I think we were both happy to be back to “civilization.” What can I say, we are city people.

I mentioned before that the Island only had two restaurants – there was a cafe at the inn, and another cafe by the ferry. The only problem? On Mondays, only one of them even served breakfast, and breakfast ended at 11am. When we got down to the cafe, we had about 5 minutes to order, and I’ll be real, the options weren’t all that appealing. A hard-boiled egg, a biscuit, and some fruit. Sure, sounds good… if we weren’t on vacation. We were craving real naughty food!

This cute little cafe in Bellingham, Mount Bakery, fit the bill. They boasted Eggs Benedict on a Belgian Waffle. Yep, you read that right. A waffle. And it was amazing.

After breakfast, we just had to work all those crazy delicious calories off. Luckily I had done a tiny bit of research and knew of a park that sounded promising. So off to Whatcom Falls Park we went.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day, yet crazy hot. It was 96 degrees when we got back to the car after walking around, and we were both pouring sweat. Sorry, TMI.

But it was worth it. I mean, look at these gorgeous views. Trust me, it was better in person.

And these cute little ducks! They were so friendly, and I imagine they get fed a lot by the visitors to the park. They were totally chill hanging out by our feet!

I always forget how many great places we have locally here in the Pacific Northwest. And I just love taking these fun little day trips to new (to us) places. Do you enjoy taking day trips? What’s your favorite place to visit in your hometown?

I’ve never been to Bellingham (well since playing soccer when I was young, but that doesn’t count) and we’ve been meaning to go for awhile since Bryan’s cousin is up there for school. It looks gorgeous!

Looks gorgeous! I’ve been trying to do more day excursions within NYC lately (it’s a big city!) but I rarely get far enough out to see some nature. I need to meet some ducks soon!

Oh it was so good. If you get up to Bellingham, seriously go there. They also serve crepes and had delicious looking pastries.
