Valentines, Aztec, & Belle Hibou Giveaway

Well, the day is nearly upon us. To me, it’s Valentine’s Day. To some, a celebration of their gal-pals Galentine’s style. For others, it’s “Single Awareness Day”. For a long, long time I fell into the latter category. If you’re there and bummed about it, don’t be. It’ll change soon enough. ;)

I don’t know if you’ve figured this out about me yet, but I’m not very romantic. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of romance. I love a good romantic comedy, a chick-lit book with a full on corny love story, and I’m kind of obsessed with idea of getting married (I blame all of the pretty engagement rings I’ve been forced to try on and all of my friends who’ve gotten engaged/married in recent years)…. but I’m not romantic, and I hate romantic gestures. They make me uncomfortable. I blame my childhood.

Anyways, whatever you’re celebrating tomorrow, hope it’s a good one. As for me, I don’t think we’ll do anything special. We’re getting haircuts in the morning, out for breakfast, and then catching up on the usual weekend chores and errands. Romantic, right? I just hope there’s a fancy box of chocolates with my name on it.

Last weekend, besides celebrating my birthday, I also got to hang out with some new blogging friends. I met Hilary (see the photos I took of her here!)  and Kelsi at a Seattle park to take the heat off our significant others for outfit shots. We took each others photos and then talked blogging and life at a cute little vegetarian Thai place in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood. I couldn’t resist popping into Trophy Cupcake across the way for a couple of cupcakes… you know, birthday cake. I feel like after a certain age you stop getting a traditional cake, so you know, I had to make the most of the opportunity.

Ok, you look adorable as always. And as a hopeless romantic myself, let me just tell ya it’s not all is cracked up to be. You get disappointed a lot lol. Goodness what an adorable etsy shop!! I liked a lot of the pieces but instantly loved the swooping swallow necklace!

Valentine’s isn’t a big deal for us. Together 22 years, 4 kidlets between us we’ve just never done the Valentine’s thing. Since I’m homebound I didn’t think anything about the “holiday”. Hubby goes and tells me that he got me something and wondered if I wanted it early. I said I’d wait but then OMG I didn’t get him anything, not even a card. Not like I can just run out and drive over to the drugstore to get one. I found a spice subscription for him and bought him a three month gift subscription. $19 awesome and he’ll get to cook! I hope I can convince him to get me some more wine though!!

HA, I hope he got you more wine! You so deserve it. And I like the subtle gift to get him to cook… that’s smart. I need to figure out one that will force Dave to cook AND clean! ;)

I’ve never actually heard of that Etsy shop before but now that I’ve checked it out I love so many things there! The pinecone necklace is super adorable!

Cute dress! Love your top know, too! We don’t go out on Valentine’s Day (not big on fighting crowds), but we usually make dinner together and exchange gifts. This year, I got him some dress shirts and he picked out some earrings from my favorite Etsy shop (I haven’t seen them yet).
PS-I love the wanderlust pendant from the shop!

Valentine’s Day usually isn’t a big day for us, either. Dustin is making it into a bit of a bigger deal this year because it’s the first day we’ve both had off together in over two months, so it will be nice to reconnect and go do some fun things! I just checked out that etsy shop and I love so many pieces! They are so different and unique!

We’re going to check out our friends’ pop-up restaurant for our Valentine’s meal. We also did a fun date night yesterday evening – revisiting the spot where we met for the first time and then going to the science museum we’re a member of. :)

What a fun style you have! I am not doing anything big for Valentine’s Day… I think it’s totally overrated! But that’s besides the point. You have a beautiful blog – so happy I stumbled across it :)

I am the same – I LOVE romance, but I am not romantic. I have a friend that always wants to kiss her husband in photos -that’s fine- but she’s always like ‘kiss!’ to me and mine, and i’m like no. it makes me uncomfortable and i just want a photo of me and my husband smiling, ok?!

That is such a beautiful colour and print on you, Jenn! And you have a perfect little top knot going on there.

I’m not really into Valentine’s Day but I like that it’s an excuse to spend some time together. I’ll take it as a date! We won’t go out to dinner or anything like that though. I prefer low key things and just hanging out together.

Love the dress! What fun to take pictures for each other!
My husband is cooking dinner, but I’m using the whole day to read and catch up on blog things. Kind of like a self appreciation day hahaha.

That sounds like a great way to spend the day! I took the day off from blogging on Saturday and then ended up regretting that when I wasn’t ready to post Monday, ha.
