April’s Shopping Budget

Oh geez. Do I really have to talk about my shopping last month? Between the Sephora and Ulta sales that were happening, as well as a few purchases here and there, I feel like  I ordered a lot of stuff. The good news is that I didn’t keep most of my clothing purchases – however, I did fill my makeup cabinets up with purchases that I bought specifically to write about and test out. Those will be coming in the next several months and I’m kind of excited to share them.

But anyways… onto what I bought this month!

April Shopping Budget: What I Bought / hellorigby seattle fashion blog

What I Bought

Golden Tote: I ordered another tote last month which didn’t quite make the cut into last month’s post. Things went much better this time, but I did sell a few items that I received that I didn’t love. It ended up offsetting the cost of the total price (normally $149). I love the three pieces I did keep, the Gone Yachting Top, the Barcelona Pant, and a blush surprise blouse from LoveStitch. (Spent: $55)

Sears: As I mentioned last month, I had a bunch of items coming from Sears that just missed my last budget post. Out of everything, I only kept this athletic-inspired V Neck Sweater from Bongo. (Spent: $5)

StitchFix: I kept one thing in my fix this month, and it was the fringe cardigan. I found a similar one at Forever 21 here, but I ended up keeping this for free from using up the remainder of my referral credit. (Thanks so much for signing up with my link, I really do appreciate it :)) (Spent: $0)

Old Navy: I picked up several staples from Old Navy, but unfortunately, most did not work out for me at all. I don’t know what is with their sizing, but it seems all over the place. I did keep this Linen Blend Boyfriend Tee, which I really, really like and highly recommend. (Spent $11)

Ulta: As mentioned above, I did actually stock up on a lot of stuff from Ulta, but most was purchased specifically for coming review posts. For myself I did pick up the Physcians Formula Correcting Powder and Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge which both came highly recommended from a couple of YouTubers that I follow. (Spent: $13)

Sephora: The Sephora sale kicked off and I definitely had to stock up on a few staples and try a few new things. I bought the MUFE HD Foundation at Becca’s recommendation, the Too Faced Sugar Pop Palette for this video I did last week, replenished on Hair Ties that won’t leave creases in my hair, and stocked up on the giant size of the Dramatically Different Moisturizer from Clinique. (Spent $104)

DailyLook: I received my second DailyLook Elite Box this month, and while it wasn’t a whole lot better than my first, I did find something to keep. The Pacey Dolman Stretch Knit Blouse is a nice staple piece, super soft, and very comfortable.  (Spent: $35)

Target: I had been eyeing the Rylee Caged Heel and finally they went on sale again! I picked them up and wore them to a blog conference and really regretted it by the end of the day. Wearing new shoes and doing a lot of walking? Not my brightest moment. Overall these are comfortable, but the upper part of the shoe and the toe box definitely rubs. (Spent $28)

April Shopping Budget: What I Returned / hellorigby seattle fashion blog

What I Returned

Sears: Remember that order I had coming from Sears last month? It arrived and it wasn’t so awesome. Other than the jumpsuit from last month, almost everything else was too big and/or unflattering. I returned the Canyon River Blues Peasant Top because a size small was huge. I returned the AX Pairs V-Front Jumpsuit because it was too revealing and I didn’t like that it was a deep V on both sides. The Bongo Dress Jogger Pant looked and felt cheap in real life. The Metaphor Heathered Jogger Pants were also very large at the waist and the drawstring wasn’t really usable. Finally, the Everlast jumpsuit sounded comfy (and was) but it was very large all over.

Old Navy: As mentioned above, a lot of staples for spring were purchased and most went back. I attempted the Boyfriend Cambridge Jeans (too big), Rockstar White Distressed Jeans (unflattering cut), Chambray Dress (too big and not my style IRL), and Embroidery Jersey Tee (just nothing special).

Target: I saw the Betseyille Epic Studded Ballet Flat online and instantly was reminded of the Valentino Rock Stud flats. Honestly, these just really aren’t my style and I ended up taking them back. They were cute though!

April Shopping Budget: What I Received / hellorigby seattle fashion blog

What I Received

Vigoss Jeans: I attended a local event for Vigoss and they sent over a pair of jeans (similar) to wear to the event and style in a blog post. I’ll be styling these deconstructed jeans from Vigoss this week!

Lime Ricki: I’m braving the swimsuit this spring and will be posting about it here! Eek. These suits are too cute not to share, and there may or may not be one in it for one lucky person! :)

Tia Tights: I received a few pairs of fun patterned tights from this UK company. They’re so soft and comfortable, and it’s still been chilly enough off and on to need these.

All in all, I don’t think I did horrible this month, but I’m definitely going to try to take it easy in May since we’ll be traveling in June and inevitably I’ll want to bring home a few (clothing) souveniers.

i used to be such an online shopper, but lately i’ve been having the worst luck with my go to stores so i’ve just stopped and for the first time ever, shopping more in real life stores. since i hate real life stores, less shopping haha. i have been wanting to try that correcting powder!

I think I need to start doing that too… when I shopped more in store I always bought way less since I could figure out then and there if it fit, or if it was worth it to even bother with at home.

Also, I like the correcting powder! I have dry skin so it can be hard to find one that doesn’t make it feel like a desert, and this one works great!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggled with Old Navy clothes! I bought a ton of stuff online and only kept one thing- their sizes are not consistent. I received my second StitchFix this month and was super impressed! Can’t wait for your makeup reviews, I’m dying to try the MUFE foundation!

Seriously, what is Old Navy’s deal?! So glad you got a good Fix – they’re a lot of fun when you get a good one! And I’ll be sharing a whole lot of reviews on makeup the next couple of months – I’ll try to bump up the foundation post :)

I’ll have to check out Downeast Basics then too, I need all the help I can get in the chest support department with swimwear. It’s challenging to find anything that fits!

Haha! Controlling yourself while shopping can be hard. My goal this month is to slow down the purchasing and instead try to restyle and use up things I already own. We’ll see how that goes! ;)

Thanks girl! :) My all-time favorite for beauty products is Birchbox! I also subscribe to Ipsy and Julep (but I don’t take that one monthly.) It all depends on what you’re looking for!

I purchased a whole bunk from Sheinside for 50$ and feel quite satisfy with them all. Though now I’m stuck with the idea of what underwear to buy for a tight hug bodycon dress.

Oh man, those are challenging undergarments to find! I haven’t checked out SheInside in awhile, will have to take a look to see what they have for spring!

I love those caged sandals- I would have never guessed they were from Target, I’ll have to see if they’re in store the next time I stop in! The palette looks so pretty- what fun colors– I have a Too Faced duo and the shadows are some of my all-time favorites! How do you like the RT sponge so far? I’ve been debating buying a beauty blender, but wonder if it’s worth trying the RT version instead? I always get so tempted to shop online at Old Navy but I rarely have good luck with how things fit- I’m with you on their sizing being pretty inconsistent!

Yes check them out! They do look more expensive than they were, IMO. I like the sponge, though to be perfectly honest, I’ve never used the Beauty Blender and don’t have much to compare it to. The RT version is so much less that I think it’s worth trying – most reviewers seem to think they’re comparable.

Thanks Julia! It really is. I keep not learning this lesson and keep trying… I think they’re going to be an in-store only shopping place from now on!

haha I just did a big sigh of relief when I saw that you were doing a bathing suit post, because I was contacted by someone to do one too and I was REALLY nervous about it. haha! I agreed and then started freaking out a little bit. I have also found the same thing with Old Navy clothing sizes! I thought I was the only one! There sizes are really all over the place!

Oh girl I’m still nervous about it! Luckily I won’t have to bare it all in a bikini or anything, but it’s still out of my comfort zone. YOLO right? :P

I have the worst time with them, and I always wait long enough in between orders to forget. :/
